Quite unfortunate to have lost Malceski for most if not the whole season..

So we don't become too negative about the season as basically what's happened has happened.. some positives to have come out..

Buchanan/Bolton had a great game as them being put up for trade last year seems to have lifted their intensity.. especially Buchanan.

LRT as awkward as he looks and that's a compliment..lol.. looked good in the rucks considering his height and playing against true ruckmen but in his CHB posi he looked really damaging.. '05 form..

Bird looks like he's living up to his hype..

Jesse White looks like a good back up whilst Everitt's out.

Special mentions to Turlich, Thornton, Moore, Jack, O'Dwyer, Barlow..

Help me out Swannies.. :)

exactly...let's look on the good side
every club has that awful moment when a star player gets hurt and looks to be gone for a long time
but we had some real good signs today
beckmans was another, and i thought brabazon looked very composed and ready for seniors, along with the players you've named
white is ready now, how strong did he look?
and i thought meredith showed a bit, specially in the last term when he kept running when so many others were obviously flagging

it will be interesting to see what various "football experts" think about our youth after our performance today.

i'm hopefull for an apology, for doubting us in the first place!!

but in saying that i'm proud of how the young bloods played they seemed to gel well, and have the speed and skill to match it with the more exprerienced hawks.

i felt for grundy as he couldnt prove himself as a decent forward, the poor bloke had to play defence on none other than buddy franklin, did an alright job too

I was wondering why the hell he was in defence. The poor bloke cant even get in the forward line even in a NAB Cup game and in a team with very few forward options.

yeah, it's just a headshaker
they just don't seem to wanan give reg a run up forward, and it's gonna kill his career
well, his sydney career anyway

Today was a real positive step in the development of our younger players, but I wanted to see the Vesz play.
He's singled himself out as one of my favourite players from the drafts over the years.

Again, if anyone is willing to upload the game on to the computer there's a ridiculously overpriced beverage from the venue of your choice at any Swans games :D

The lower tier guys.. ie Moore, Barlow looked really impressive as they're really pressing for first team selections..

Young bloods.. Out of all them.. O'Dwyer, Bird, O'Keefe and Faulks looked great

And Kieren Jack showed why he deserved to be elevated from the rookie list.

The positives are always great to look at. Its really pleasing how we went yesterday, it sort of reinforces the tradition that no one should ever doubt the Swans. Our young guns really have stepped up and I'm extremely pleased with Buchanan's performance. He's an absolute star and its exciting to see him up and running, and playing at his best.

O'Dywer was awesome as well, and as for Bird; he's more than likely to play for us in round 1. He's an absolute star and living up to the number 14... :p No pressure Birdy.

All round, a grand effort!!!

It sucks to have an anterior ligament in the knee. In replays on the news I thought Malceski was VERY UNLUCKY indeed and looked like his right leg below the knee wouldn't go with the direction of the upper leg twisting the knee and dang, he's gone. What happens is that he tried to turn left on his right leg. Usually left knees are injured far more than right. He was also walking around the bench after the injury so it could only be a partial torn ACL, not a complete tear because usually the kneecap becomes very unstable. But still thats at least 6 to 12 months. Rhett Biglands (Adelaide) was also walking around on the bench after he tore his when a teammate collided with his left leg in mid-air, and his was a complete tear. Malceski won't be alone, Paul Hazelby of Fremantle also suffered a left knee injury too, lets hope its only the MCL. Last year only 5 players went down, 2 in the preseason. While 20 players may go down this year.
