Should've been the case from the club's inception, if you ask me. The fact that the most experienced coach involved with the club was in the commentary box for their first game rather than serving in an official capacity is just a teensy bit amusing.

I still can't believe that they needlessly gave McKenna an extension so early in the season.

I wonder if Blighty is a bit past it to be honest and they would have been better off not renewing McKenna's contract so hastily or getting a more recent senior coach to be football director.

He did sit in the box occasionally with Bluey last year, IIRC. But this seems far more official.

Not entirely sure why Bluey wasn't given this help full time when the season started last year, really. Would have done him the world of good. New Senior Coach and all that.

Yeah GWS had two full time premiership coaches working together and GCFC only had Mckenna...

Clearly, Mckenna is a rookie coach. He is coaching a rookie team. Gee i wonder why it hasn't worked out so well.

They can fill the box with every coach who has won a flag who isn't coaching atm, it is not going to help those pencil armed kids speed the rate their nuts drop into their sack.

Mckenna should buy a Poweball ticket to be honest how the hell he got a contract extension is laughable. No game plan.tactics, and not up to it.The board of the Suns rushed by giving him a further 2 years should have wait and see how the season went.No one else to blame.

Obviously a stupid move. But they have plenty of coin to get rid of him if needs be.

Give us time, judge us when the core group of players born in the 90's have 60+ games under their belts. Next season I expect to see us around the 12-15 mark on ladder also as 3rd year is when a lot of young players traditionally kick on. Top 8 from 2015, premiership window open 2016-2020.

I still ask the question, " how the heck did Bluey get the job in the first place ????? ". His coaching CV was very under whelming when he apllied for the job.

Dawson, German, Sumich >>>>>>> Bluey.

Blight is a bit eccentric, but he sure knows his footy.

Blue got the job because he was willing to give up the 2nd in charge at Collingwood job to coach TAC Cup/VFL for 2 years. He also was not guaranteed the AFL job till 2010.

His cv isnt too bad:

Legendary player at West Coast
Claremont WAFL Head Coach
Collingwood 2nd in charge to Malthouse

No different a cv to Scott Watters who coached WAFL/under Malthouse.

GC resigned the coach because having the coach constantly talked up for the sack for an entire year isn't the best thing for a developing team, and now that Blight is in the position to have a more hands-on role, why wouldn't you let him do this?
