Government aren't going to resign. Malcolm won't call an election, it'd be suicide for him. Need a successful NC motion, otherwise we're stuck in this heap of s**t until 2019.

Heck, maybe Turnbull is the next Whitlam. PC to pull a madness - you heard it here first.

I'd expect the sympathy vote will ensure Alexander and Baarnaby win comprehensively which will buck Malcolm up no end and return his government to one with a majority. With a truckload internal problems to boot.
I don't think it's a sympathy vote, both are popular local members. If for some reason Alexander can't run again I'd suggest things might be different.

This dickhead said " John Alexanders done the right thing "

This same dickhead lambasted the Greens ( who DID THE RIGHT THING and stepped aside as soon as it was evident ) yet Alexander tried all sorts of dodgey s**t to get around it and finally had no choice BUT to resign and Mal said he's " done the right thing " ???

The ******* cheek of these campaigners.....

Surely they must have been able to reprogramme the Centrelink Robot by now to sort out the citizenship question? Maybe they have, but when they turned it on it overloaded and blew up
If you want to cheat the tax payer for lots of government money its a lot easier doing it as a member.
The checks arent as rigorous as applying for the dole.
You dont even have to pay them back when you get caught for not being eligible for 20 years either

Bishop preferred leader as Turnbull loses support

Malcolm Turnbull has lost key support in cabinet as fears grow he will allow the citizenship crisis to drag the government to an election early next year which would wipe out the Coalition...

Senior ministers have lost faith in Mr Turnbull’s judgment over the fallout from the High Court decision on MPs’ eligibility, which has led to two by-elections and speculation a general election for the House of Representatives could be called in February rather than an expected series of by-elections.

The seminal change in ministerial attitudes comes as the latest Newspoll shows Mr Turnbull’s dominance over Bill Shorten as preferred prime minister has ended.

More trouble for Malcolm today from the conservative Libs. Schools bit is very odd

Conservative Libs to offer new gay marriage bill

A conservative-backed same-sex marriage bill enshrining wide-reaching shield laws for celebrants, businesses, educators, charities and parents opposed to gay marriage will be taken to the Coalition partyroom in a looming showdown over freedom of speech and religious protections.

The 34-page bill, obtained by The Australian and to be released today by conservative Victorian Liberal senator James Paterson, would override state and territory anti-discrimination and freedom-of-speech laws to extend protections beyond religious affiliation to anyone who holds a “conscientious belief” in traditional marriage.

Significantly, the bill also includes a “safe schools” clause to confer rights to parents who want to remove their children from classes if they believe the values being taught do not accord with a traditional view of marriage.

The drums are beating now for Turnbull.

In Fairfax

Malcolm Turnbull is now fighting for his political survival

When you consider Malcolm's career as PM, the senate voting amendments, the DD on (what was the trigger again?) right up to the citizenship fiasco.
Hes not shot himself in the foot, but hes done the same damage over time, slowly with nail clippers

But the author writes this:
Sir Peter Cosgrove would be remiss if he were not contemplating – in the event of an impasse – nudging the PM towards early elections to enable Parliament to be reconstituted with a clean slate of representatives untainted by citizenship issues.

Surely this isn't possible without dismissing the senate as well? does he have the power?

Insiders yesterday had an interesting snippet where Turnbull when asked if he had had discussions with the GG declined to comment '' as we dont comment on things to do with the GG'' . Instead of denying the possibility he left speculation open

This is where the unelected representative of a non Australian citizen, the Queen, gets to sack the elected Parliament. It was a good thing when it suited the Libs, lets see if it happens when this time their is a clear case for the illegitimacy of this Government.
