Setting a default electricity price is the best policy the Turnbull government ever proposed. Shame it was a thought bubble which is now being lost among the foaming whirlpool.

And also lost is the implicit logic from that which is the most important of all if anyone stops to think.
It's a tacit admission that privatisation of natural monopolies doesnt work and loses you both policy flexibility and any vague control of rentseeking by the new owners, both of which lead to escalating cost and inefficiency rather than the reverse.
The neoliberal economic model has failed and this is exhibit A.
