Well if there is a horse god give Maldivian all the grass and corn he can eat while resting and please, please shine down on Septimus i had all but given up hope on the doubles but have a sping in my step now

i hope he dosen't...its boring when the favourite wins

Yeah, I try and steer clear away from favourites as well. Although admittedly, I couldn't resist the urge to back Whobegotyou on the weekend, it's just an absolute gun.

I'm thinking Efficient at the moment for the Melb. Cup.

yeah, u think he can go bak 2 bak?
i've still got 3 doubles riding on the cup so i want to back a couple of others
as a bit of back up plan) i'm thinking maybe nom de jeu and bauer

Its a fair bit of extra weight that Efficient has to carry since last years Cup. I think Zipping has more of a shot this year myself

I think he can personally.

Since last year's Melbourne Cup, the stable has been planning a back-to-back victory for the star grey.

Sure he has a few more kilos on his back this time around but he's tried at the track & distance and has been prodominently set to win this race this year, last year it wasn't there only focus IIRC.

If he can get a nice run he'll be very hard to beat, will be nice and fresh and ready to run the race of his life IMO.

Septimus I've just got a funny feeling it'll do another Yeats run in the Cup and will stay away.

Mad Rush has done a Delta Blues/Purple Moon type run so must be respected. Especially since Cumani knows how to set his horses for this race with previous experience and with Ollie on board, the horse is sure to get a fair ride. Just my two cents worth.

do you rate honolulu at all?...i've heard nobody talking about him

Yeah I do rate Honolulu and from all reports he has settled in well but his stablemate, Septimus, as you would know has been in the spotlight for a month or so now and O'Brien has stated that Septimus would probably be his biggest chance to win the Cup.

Honolulu has some decent form going into the race, will be able to run the distance out easily but I just don't think it has the turn of foot to win a Melbourne Cup.

If the horse gets a nice barrier like from 5-10 it might be one to chuck into your multiples but I just don't think it's good enough to win IMO.
