Mal has fallen foul - this we know.

Our favourite freelance flanker, is laidup, after Lars latest visit.
So who warms mals seat, sans unsettling the synergy of the season.

Longmires likely lads.

Everett - New in, may well have have that leading role in him.
Mattner - Captain Calamity Kickin, support staff seems his station.
Shaw - Coming from a long way back on 2010 form, could be what he needs to furnish 2009 feeling.
Hanners - Clubbed feet the consensus, so not likely.
Sumner - Limited time in, is fitness and first team football his flaw.
Jetta - Lightning and long kicking, the free spirited footballer who possibly thinks defence is a property boundary.
Johnston - The best kick at the club, fitness may find him out, not finesse or capacity. This lad used to be a Pharaoh, so flanker is a fiddle for he.

With Tiger also taking a tumble, the freelance flanker role, could prove the crux of our 2011 cup quest.

lol, brilliant as always.

However, you have forgotten who some see as his replacement. King of Rohan.

Over to The OTHERS AG. :)
Yes Rohan The Red was wrestled with, and I also gave thought to ROK.
What better than having a ROK - to build your defence on.

No to Hannerbery.

Sumner and Rohan hopefully to get games there - if form warrants. And I would keep picking them as long as they perform. We know what Shaw and Mattner can do, and they'll certainly be handy to have in the squad come finals time.

How bout one out of left field - Jesse White. He has the athleticism to make it work. Imagine the big Mocca galloping down the O'Reilly wing, one bounce, two bounces, crashes past the opposition wingman with ease, shrugs off a feeble challenge from the opposite half-back flanker and sends a towering kick to the high flying Goodes who marks in the goalsquare.

on a hbf? half forwards would turn him inside out. He is built more for a CHB if playing down back but it takes a certain mindset, I believe all the best ones have a bit of mongeral in them but I guess Id say that about all positions.

What, in a Wayne The Moose Henwood kind of way Grime?

So far we have.
Rohan x 3
Sumner x 1
JESSELENKO:diamond: x 1.

If Everitt makes his mark on Saturday, it's his round 1.

The way our injury list is shaping up Mr FU I think Everett may be asked to focus on sticking to his man. Running off a little but perhaps playing more a back pocket sort of role.

I think it may be possible in round 1 we see a Nick Smith/Sumner combination replace mal.

No one is going to do the job like for like at all. Smith can play a running role and has good disposal but will probably stay closer to the stoppages in the back flank zone than mal did. As Smith has had an interrupted pre season I think he may be looked at round 1 as our strategic sub option coming off late in the third term for Sumner to give fresh pair of legs in attempting to attack the MCG (This is of course providing their is on injury in the match)

Sorry CAS, I have been remiss.:o
As we feared there is no like for like, outside of molesting the midfield setup and suiting up some other.
So it seems it's Everitts to effect, as best he can. At least on veiwing the Nob Challenge matches. He was most definitely most looked at, by the panel to have the first crack at the title. And Melbourne might just suit his start up.

Every team's off season focus has been forward pressure. Beating the football equivalent of the full court press, especially while players are fresh, is the difference between winning and losing these days. Looking at our options:

- I dont know that Everitt is quick enough, and his precise kicking and decision-making under pressure is an unknown.
- Shaw has the speed, but his decision making and foot skills are sus
- Rohan hasn't got the vision yet. Tries to do too much by himself.
- Mattner. nuff said.
- Sumner looks the goods to me. I reckon its only a matter of time before he takes over the role.

Swans magazine just arrived and the coaching staff, doing a player profile for each guy, say that Jesse will played down back at times this year.

Grim, you Nostradamus, you.

If everyone remembers, White was in the backline against Port in the NAB Cup innn 2008 I believe, and Grundy was up forward, they were both doing pretty averagely, so they switched around and kind of stayed there.

I certainly do remember. Just didn't really see Jesse as being played much down back this year at all.

And yeh sorry BSA. Just got home and opened the thread and as I was waiting for the page to load that thought did cross my mind, that you've been barking up that tree for a while now.

Tell you what, I'll take back my imaginary props that I gave to Grim and hand them over to you. All square?

Hmph. Grim can keep your tainted props.

:p

(Besides which, if White doesn't go to the backline, or does and is a complete failure, I can always claim innocence, right?)

How did I get caught up in this shemozzle? I was being facetious anyway, so any credit I claim for the suggestion will be purely tongue-in-cheek. It's all yours BSA5.
