To be honest, I think Malthouse is a good coach but also lacks imagination when it comes to trying something different. I see Collingwood as one of the most predictable sides in the AFL in terms of who is going to play where and must make the coaches job for the opposition rather easy. Why doesnt MM experiment more and take a few risks.

As for Gotch, I really wonder if he has any idea of how to develop younger players and watching Williamstown on Saturday, I understand why many of the younger players have such poor skills and no leadership skills. For one half, Richard Cole sat on the bench, Billy Morrison sat on the bench nearly the whole match, Davidson is running around the reserves and the players being given responcibility in the key positions are not even going to play for Collingwood. For a team with so many injuries, I find it hard one who was regarded as a prime key forward (davidson) cant even make the team.

If Collingwood is to improve, our younger players need to be given opportunities to improve and given the reponcibility to do it. Everyone says Billy Morrison is a dud, how the hell is supposed to do anything if he sits on the bench. He certainly wasnt a dud at junior level and even played in the Tassie Devils senior lineup. As for Davidson, he kicked 68 goals in the U18"s. Why cant the Collingwood coaches take these players to the next level. Other clubs can.

I am glad Collingwood has been forced to play some younger talent because I wonder which one wouldnt have. As for Malthouse saying Iaccobuchi isnt ready yet, he was earlier on in the year when he got dropped. It just makes you want to cry.

You could do worse than luring Peter German from Subiaco to coach Williamstown. He would have them playing well and would probably take them to multiple premierships.

Malthouse is.

However, we need some influence at Williamstown to actually get our young players the experience they deserve.

Interesting observations Goalpie.

Bill Morrison and Tom Davidson both have had opportunities to play up forward and have struggled for Williamstown seniors. As for Richard Cole he is lacking confidence and he played around 2 and a half quarters across half back and his game was fair.

Williamstown's back line led by Dane Swan was very good on the weekend.

At the moment there are players playing better than the BM and TD.
