Yeah maybe 15 or 16 a side and a smaller field would work anything les and the game seems to change too much

Most likely and really highlights how rules and changes can change a lot more than you want it to change. They are already playing with 16 on the field so not sure you want to take it down further.

In effect it takes 1 extra long kick in the women's game to go end to end. The ball has to be inside 40 for a player to have any sort of chance of kicking the goal. As long as scoring is a topic of conversation in the women's game then so should the length of the ground.
