Your right on that one regarding Carltons delusional management. Your wrong about me talking up Carltons list in the off season. They only have around six or so players that would get a game at the top clubs if that. The reason THEY thought the list was ok was because Ratten got the best out of what was an average playing group riddled with injuries- I maintain my view that Ratten could have remained and they would have been better off. He is extremely highly regarded around the trapps, was offered a number of Jobs and was snapped up by the Hawks in a heart beat!

If Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Yarran, Simpson, Henderson, Jamison, Garlett, Waite and Carazzo were playing for Hawthorn, they would be better drilled and would be still getting a game for them. This whole, wouldn't get a game for one of the top teams is a complete crock (except maybe Melbourne). Look at Hawthorn, Hale, Gibson, (less so now, obviously), Simpkin, Ceglar, Cheney, Spangher...they wouldn't get a game for one of the top teams would they? Placing the right player into the right system is important. As is the conifidence of given player and the team and players they play around.
There are a lot of players at Fremantle too, that people would be lumping big question marks on were they not brilliantly coached and completely in tune with their role.

Theres no dilemma. They will commit to Malthouse regardless of how pearshaped things become.

Malthouse should give Carlton a refund on the $3 million they are paying him. He promised them the world and has given them nothing. I would be very surprised if Carlton keep him on for the rebuild that they must now go through.

My thoughts exactly - the situation is considerably complicated by the fact MM talked them up so much. There is only two conclusion that stem from that - either he is past the game and can't read the talent of the list anymore or he read the situation properly and was misleading in where he thought the Blues were at.

Either way, it makes his position at Carlton very tenuous imo

Logic says that.. the BIG CLEAN OUT beckons.. and that goes with 80% of the teams as well. The AFL's version of FA isn't working.. 5 years is long enough for a player to be determined whether he is a keeper or a journeyman. There are 40% of players on AFL lists that are clearly WASTING everyone's time by being a FRINGE player in the same team… should be MOVED on or drained out of of the system.

I'm not interested in silver linings. I'm interested in next week and the week after. No point throwing in the towel at round 4. That would be mindblowingly pissweak. What I will do is back my club to turn it around, just as I would back myself to turn it around if in a similarly shitty situation. If they can't, then there will come a time when serious changes have to made. Round 4 is not that time IMO.

It's not a great position to be in, but it's round 4 FFS. Mathematically we're two wins from the top 8. How much longer do you keep trying? What kind of question is that? Are you going to write off your teams 2014? The only team the Tigers have beaten is one you think should now abandon the season and even then that win was due as much to that team kicking themselves out of it.
