City made it really hard for him to score that one

Oh well, apart from that piece of "defense" I think we have slightly outplayed Liverpool, but neither side has had too many chances. Hopefully the second half will see a few.

Keller was like a man possessed last night. Owen also has be stifled by great goalkeeping, but should never be allowed to take another penaly. If another penalty is awarded, Hyypia should stand up and demand that Murphy take it. No one player is bigger than the club. Every player has his price, and i'm not going to stand for Owen taking his own selfish needs above the team's. In his career, Owen has been to the spot 17 times for 9 goals and 8 misses. That has to be one of the poorest records in Europe.

Owen is just not up to it. The keeper just has to guess the right way and its a certain save. I love the little bloke ... i still believe that he should start ... always. But give the ball to our designated stop-play expert ... D. Murphy.

Remember this, oh how easy they turn back!

Penalty Henry ... PENALTY Henry.

If you have any idea about football, you'd know that scoring from open play differs from taking a spot kick.

What part of "... i still believe that he should start ... always" don't you understand??

Great Victory! seeing Owen score was just a weight off everyone's shoulders. I know it was effecting me when having a kick at the park. morale was down everywhere. The first was a gimmie, the second and third was just class finishing. Maybe Owen has been taking lessons from Baros? This prove that Owen still has what it takes and will have a big impact this season!

5. Michael Owen
4. Didi Hamann
3. Steven Gerrard
2. Traore
1. Danny Murphy

I get the feeling that the next 3-4 weeks will shape our season. With Chelsea (home)and Leeds (Away) in the premiership and the Home and Away Leg of the champion league against Spartak Moscow we will find out if we will be serious contenders in both competitions.

Not sure if I am eligible to vote for this award but here goes anyway:

5 - Owen
4 - Hamann
3 - Gerrard
2 - Riise
1 - Heskey

All in all it seemed like a bit of a return to 2001 Liverpool after we gifted you the first. Sit back, don't take too many chances, and hit out on the break. Sadly it seems to be a strategy that will work more than the odd once or twice against us. The second goal saw you open up a bit more but for the next half hour after that I felt we allowed you to do so by consistently giving the ball away, and through the lack of a viable second scoring option.

I thought Heskey and Riise combined well against Anelka and Wright-Phillips going forward, and Gerrard and Hamann were exceptional against a midfield that apart from Berkovic didn't offer much at all. Part of the reason for that was Hamann mopping up anything that came near him.

Other than that I will accept all of your thanks for City playing Owen into form, you wouldn't find an easier goal for his first, and given a bit of confidence out of scoring he got another two very well taken goals.

As for City, very frustrating again although we have now played six of last years top eight, and although 8 points from 8 games is a bit disappointing I think we will definately improve from here. Bernarbia will be back next week against Southampton, and Keegan has indicated he will be looking for one or two buys in January. Hopefully we are well away from the bottom half dozen by then because we are about as close to it as I would like to be.

People say that Arsenal are to good and that they will run away with the title, but lets not forget that we are only 2 points behind and could easily be 7 wins 1 draw, or even 8 wins straight if we won the Blakburn game. If owen fires, we can win the title.
