The mental health system is defiantly inadequate. However, what also needs to be addressed in this issue is the media’s involvement. The public embarrassment, driven by the media, the man was faced with after the alleged bashing would most likely have been a factor in the final outcome

In both instances it seems the media spotlight did not help the situation. But its a fine line as to the reporting of facts of interest and what I call '' media stalking''

Look the guy was obviously very troubled, blaming the media is a cop out and just wrong. He was arrested by police on the weekend for bashing in car windows with his bare hands and then escaped from the mental institution he was put in. Some people don't want to be helped, its tragic but blaming the media or judges or doctors isn't the answer.

My GF worked as a security guard at car yards from 10-2am ..

Two points champ.

1.In Melbourne, thats around about the time that people get knocked, so you wouldn't find too many people rummaging around car lots, and certainly not 'face's'.Although Ablett and Geelong are a different kettle of fish.

2.Your girlfriend is obviously from Perth.Perth women can be beautiful, but they can also knock you from here to kingdom come, so there's every chance your GF could probably sort me out!!!

He was also being charged with a robbery/assault committed an hour before the car yard incident.
