De Jong's importance to this team is immense. Silva was probably the best player on the park, but in terms of the dirty work, Fletcher/Scholes/Anderson left Barry/Toure/Milner wanting. They really needed De Jong's influence and work rate in the middle.

Was hugely impressed with Smalling. I could never imagine Jonny Evans playing like that in such a high pressure match. Or any match really.

I mean currently. Evans has regressed, although to be honest he seems a confidence player and that sort always needs a run of games. From memory he was partnering Vidic for a lot of that record clean sheet streak a couple of seasons back. Now he just looks shaky whenever he starts.

Wes Brown looked like he was going to be quality when he first broke into the side, but he had a shocking run of injuries around 21-23, was never the same since. Has done a job for us over the years mind you, though the Leeds horror show might have done him in for good.

Has one of the best songs too.
