Rooney

Depay. Mata. Adnan/young

Bastian. Morgan.

Would be more balanced. I've concluded lvg isba lunatic

Evidence;

A) showing the Bayern sides his body, with no pants on

B) young 3 year contract

Depay, Morgan, Bastian, darmarin are good signings, but pretty obvious.

Its no secret the central mid. Positions have been weak since Keane/scholes/Nicky butt/veron days

While I'm at it, I think its weak not playing Herrera too. Mata is problematic, lack of size, defensive, inability to play in a 433,/slow

Mata had a good game, easy on the hate.

He is a no.10 and should be played there, Depay out wide, he has pace and tricks. Herrera needs to start too, and for gods sake no Blind at CB, a disaster waiting to happen.

Darmian Smalling Rojo Shaw

Carrick Schniederlin

Herrera Mata Depay

Rooney

- Smalling was immense really.
- **** Blind at CB. Jones cannot catch a break. Do not rate Rojo as CB (too much flair and average decision maker). Therefore..... big signing is needed here to partner Smalling. Ramos, Otamendi, Stones, whoever. Id back Jones in there every day of the week and twice on Sundays, but he never stays fit. Mild Thrombosis?!? Like seriously, what in the ****.
- Darmain was as solid as I expected him to be. Reckon this will go down as one of our smartest buys ever. Being from Italian background I watched this guy quite a bit and he is as solid as they come. He doesnt really have any big weaknesses, bit of a jack of all trades, which is what you want out wide. Now we need Shaw to stay fit and get some games under his belt and our wide options could look very solid.
- Depay and Bastian often tried to do a bit too much.

Not liking this 442 formation, too much space between Carrick/Schneiderlin and Depay.
This x 100000. Its putrid. We lack any sort of creativity in in the forward half of the pitch when going down the middle. Out wide we seem to do okay, but there is always this ****ing huge gaping hole in behind Rooney, and thus our link up play between deep midfield and attack is still disgusting.

We looked somewhat better when Herrera came on. At least he has a high work rate and ran into space and provided an option. Depay was as some have said, often way too far forward and we had no link man between the midfield and Rooney. Thus we piss farted around with it between wing back, deep midfield and forward wing, and it resulted in nothing.

We played like this last year way too often as well and it shits me because it is so obvious. Even at times when Mata was there, he still wasnt positioned properly and we failed to link up. We need an Oscar / Draxler type who just sit in the hole and directs everything forward of centre. So far I really haven't been impressed with Mata as a #10, but Im still willing to back him in. Id play Herrera there for a solid run of games, but that wont happen anytime soon.

Id play depay on the wing and mata in behind.
Hopefully when Pedro arrives it's him and Depay on the wings with Mata/Ander in the middle. Depay had a few runs out wide where he looked threatening and moved Tottenham's defence into an awkward shape. Needs to stay there imo.

Yep, Smalling was a beast and grows in confidence every game. The VC has really given him a lift i think, he relishes the leadership role. Would love a gun CB beside him.

My issue atm with the system is that we still don't get the ball into the front 3 quickly enough but i reckon this will come. The few times we did it we looked really dangerous.

Unfortunately, i'm starting to think that Mata might just be too slow in a LVG system. Hope i'm proved wrong tho. A Depay, Roon, Pedro front 3 would be tasty. Hope Woody isn't fartassing around over 1-2m for pedro, just get him in now. When Depay got the ball early and ran into space he looked really threatening.

Darmo (i will shorten this to Damo at some point :thumbsu:) was great. I also love the fact that he is ambidextrous. This stands out like dogs balls compared to Tony V hahaha.

Really happy with Schneidy, Futtballgott just needs playing time. Pleasantly surprised by Romero too.

I reckon our back 4 is slowly building to the one about 7-8 years ago with Neville, Ferdi, Vidic and Evra.

I like Darmian, more I see of Smalling the more I see Ferdi in him and I reckon Shaw will be as good as Evra. Now all we need is a Nemanja.

Unless we sign Ramos and someone like Otamendi, we won't have a brick wall that Rio/Vida were. But Smalling is still improving and we have to wait and see how Rojo will do this season. Darmian and Shaw will be excellent

Wow, Warren Joyce has done a complete u turn on last season with the u21's. He says we are playing the kids and he doesn't expect us to retain the title.
We drew 1-1 with Leicester overnight with a v young team.

Varela with our goal, an OG for theirs.

Will be interesting to see how Varela goes this season. Hopefully he can provide adequate backup to the first teamers.

What happens to guys like Blackett, McNair, Wilson who need match fitness?
Surely we won't be putting out a team as young as this every game

I'm not a fan of Blackett so a sale/loan for him would be good. I like McNair and while Jones is injured i reckon we'll keep him. Wilson will stay regardless as backup and will play plenty in the ressies (fletcher is our only striker and he's v young). Was happy to see Fosu-Mensah on the teamsheet. 17 years old and played CM and CB. I reckon DM is his future possy.

LVG supposedly is revamping the academy. We don't have much detail on what is being done at this stage.

On a sidenote, i have a sneaky spidy-sense that Spurs will buy Berahino and we will throw 30-40m plus Chicha at them for the Hurricane.

Van Gaal seems like he is going to persist with depay in that no. 10 role, I want to see him out wide though.

Mata deserves that no. 10 role.

I don't think we can play both Carrick and Schneiderlin in the same team in most BPL matches. Herrera should partner one of them or Schweinsteiger. Look too stagnant otherwise.

UCL squad has been entered. DDG in it, Valdes not. One spot left open for a new signing. Presumably Pedro.

Doesn't bode well for having CB or striker coming in.
The UCL squad is just for the qualifiers so we could register a new CB/ST once we get to the group stage.
