Rumour Marc Murphy upset/targeted ?

Had a look on the saints board for 2 minutes had found some gold.

"let's not pretend murphy is the victim here"
"good on ya jakey for standing up for yourself"

no more needs to be said
Actually, Murphy's partner is now "tainted" in the eyes of the watching world. And let's face it, even if it is true (any of it), it is no one else's business but for her and the others involved. I'd suggest if there is a victim here, it is surely her.

This is as classy as Kyrios sledging Wawrinka about Kokinakis having bedded his girlfriend. She, by the reports I recall reading, was distraught to the point of a breakdown. God only knows what Murphy's girlfriend is going through today with family, work colleagues etc.

I don't propose any club is better than any other when it comes to this stuff, but eventually it boils over. So where is the line drawn? who knows.......

Browny2Carlisle LTN16

Calling these 2 out as fake troll accounts.

That or just the biggest idiots on BF.

Uhh why? I've said pretty reasonable things on here nothing bad about players or fans. I only called someone a coward because they were advocating a violent act to someone injured on the ground. That shit has no place in conversation anywhere.

This is what you supporters don't get with sledging .saying shit about peoples wives ,children etc is not on .what part don't you ferals get ..ffs

Its sledging. Nothing is off limits. Whatever erodes away at the opposition psyche. What Carlisle said was fine, I have no problems with it. He put Murphy completely off of his game, and we won the football match. Its not like a it is against the law to sledge a person either. Fair play to Carlisle.

2. If you cannot acknowledge that sledging was poor from both teams

what did carlton sledge about?
havent heard the saints, or cfc complain about the carlton players sledging.

No mention of drug accusations or anything else that crossed the line.

I agree it wasnt Murphys finest moment, but for all we know he could of said 'get up softy'.

So nothing is off limits? Bloody hell

Let's not pretend that Carlisle had a horrific injury like a knee or a collarbone and that the Carlton players bumped him (that sounds familiar...)

He got a knock to the knackers.
Thanks for that diagnosis.

I'm sure Murphy knew that at the time.

That fact that St. Kilda's club captain has come out publicly and said that a line has been crossed is surely enough for a retraction from St. Kilda fans, you would think..

This thread seems to be getting pretty hyperbolic and less discussiony, but **** it I'll bite...

Something was said that was too far according to the club in hindsight, and as a club we have apologised. What I was annoyed by, don't know about any other Saints fans just speaking for myself, was Marc Murphy deciding to sledge back when Carlisle was down on the ground injured and then not shaking hands with opposition players after the game. There's still a lot of vagueness with this story so the way I see it it could be;

a) Something much more inappropriate then what was originally thought ("Carey rooted your Mrs" or something similar) was said and crossed the line, Marc Murphy then returned fire when Carlisle was down. Remained upset after the game with multiple Saints players and refused to shake hands.

b) Something roughly like the rumours ("Carey and your Mrs") was said and Marc Murphy returned fire when Carlisle was down. Remained upset after the game at Carlisle and refused to shake hands with anyone.

In case of a) I can understand Murphy's reaction if something very inappropriate was said, wishing ill on his wife or something serious, and could understandably rattle you, but I still think it's poor sportsmanship to not shake hands with all of the other opposition after the game.

If it's b) then I think it's soft, Carlisle makes a comment about someone banging your wife so you wait until he's down injured to give him a spray and then refuse to shake hands with opposition players after the game.

Let's not pretend this is the first time a girlfriend/wife has been brought up in a sledge or that it doesn't happen often. Last year a Saints BigFooty fan made a comment after the Saints vs. Swans game that Buddy sledged Sam Fisher about his girlfriend in an almost identical manner and guess what? Sam Fisher didn't do anything cheap or refuse to shake hands after the game.

If you think this is inappropriate commentary, understandable there's definitely an argument for removing more stuff as fair game for sledging I think, but if you want to get shitty and make out like Carlisle is a campaigner for saying WHATEVER it is he said about Murphy's wife than you're probably going to find yourself disappointed in a few of your own club's players because this is not that unusual.

Dunno. Only one captain has come out so far and accepted their wrongdoing in the situation.
Still waiting to hear the same from the other....

Of course things should be off limits. Sledge each other, not each other's families.

It didn't put Murph off his game at all. He was in our bests.

Murphy being tagged in a Big Final?
Won't happen.
They won't make a final for years.

Always plays well in finals. Was particularly good in 2011 when we beat the Bombers by 64. Remember him running down the wing with Yarran in the 4th smiling and chatting - no EFC player in sight. Interesting how after that loss Hird went and employed Dank to get an edge.

You mean Buddy's sloppy seconds?
