Thought he was very good this afternoon.

Clearly he is not travelling at 100% at the moment due to injury. Don't recall seeing him in the centre once today but still had a profound impact on the game.

Prior to the start of the season I made the comment that Marc could be the premiere goal kicking midfielder in the competition. We saw his ability on that front a few years back but over the past season or two has not been able to replicate that production. I noted it would be a huge bonus to the side should he be able to push forward and contribute on the scoreboard and that's exactly what we saw this afternoon. Such a smart footballer around the goals.

The other bonus of Murph spending significant time out of the centre square is, of course, that it allows others to step up and assume the responsibility of filling in for the skipper, whether he's in the forward line, on the bench or indeed on the sidelines. That's exactly how you develop depth through the middle of the ground and I'm glad we're seeing that implemented and promoted this season

Marc has now kicked 11 goals in the first 8 games of the season. If he can contribute upwards of 25 goals in 2013 not only will he step up a notch or two in the eyes of many but no doubt we'll be a better and more dangerous side for it.

This really stood out today. At various times at centre bounces we saw McLean, Curnow, Bell, Cachia, Robinson in there without either Judd or Murphy there & they acquitted themselves well. It is certainly a contrast to recent seasons where you would expect at least one of (if not both) Judd & Murphy to be present at each centre bounce. It is very clear that Mick is endeavouring to share the load.

Murph is an attacking mid like Shuey & Harvey not a defensive mid like Selwood & Sewell. Cotchin is like Nathan Jones & Mitchell....all different types.

Also on the broadcast yesterday one of the commentators mentioned that according to Champion data(or some other performance tracker)over the last 4 years, only 1 other player has been more consistantly good in terms of performance than Murphy. I've guessing that might be Ablett.

Check and mate to all you nay sayers.

He is, but he needs to take the flopping out of his game, to use a basketball term. He had his chance to stand up to Harlett, but didn't. I know he got a free for it, but that's not the kind of look I want from a captain.

Fair call. Nothing stopping other players from making a presence either.

Murphy has the capability to be a cheeky little player that can taunt the opposition into giving away frees. He's not an enforcer and shouldn't need to be. All about the smarts from Murph.

I did like that McLean came straight in and bowled Hartlett over though.
