Just interested to know whether you think Ratten will continue developing him as a tagger next year or let him loose into a midfield consisting of Judd, Stevens and Carazzo?

IIRC he played a tagging role in a couple of late games last season, but I suspect the reasoning behind that was that it had been a long season in a thinnish midfield, and it was to give him a break and let him be the 'hunter' rather than the hunted for a while. I suspect with Judd and Stevo back (hadley, Pfeiffer and Armfield who looks AFL ready, and Jackson and Anderson battling for the main tagger role) that Murph will be unleashed in an offensive role next year with the luxury of being the third or fourth targetted midfielder....as Parrot might say, the future looks bright :)

He isn't a "tagger", Ratten gave him a few run with roles towards the end of '07 though?

The only run-with role that I was aware of was against St.Kilda later in the year when he ran with Leigh Montagna. No way that Ratten would turn a #1 pick into a tagger, especially when he is likely to have more freedom next year.

Could be :thumbsu:.

I'm not particularly good at selecting dream teams....with our midfield depth now, there will be a lot of good players sharing the ball around :)

But you're a gun at jumping on, then off kids who are looking to be drafted. :)

Why would you paraphrase my answer when I answered it far more eloquently earlier in the thread?? God you are a post whore ;):p:D

Children save the pissing contests for the urinal at break time.

It wasn't so much to give him a break from being the hunted but a strategy employed to simply break the tag, many teams do it...[/quot

If Murphy realises his potential he will be the one getting tagged not doing the tagging.Even with Judd and Stevo, Murph has the talent, youth, speed etc to demand a tagger.Hopefully he fulfills our dream

Pretty sure he started a quarter, possibly the first vs WCE on Judd.......didn't last long.

The answer is no. There are other guys more "defensivley minded", and while Murphs tackling is first rate, he needs to learn a lot more about staying close to his man at ball ups.
The Hawks game where Crawf kept running off him was embarrassing at some points.
