What are peoples thoughts on MM.
I was watching a game it might have been against the pies and the commentator (tim watson or david Schwarze I think tony shaw might have said it on fox as well) said that he doesnt hit enough targets.

I the went to a mates house and watched the weagles game who he supports and he couldnt believe the precision and hardness that murphy kicked the ball.

Again against st kilda i though he used the ball better than any player on the ground. It wasn't a skilled game to begin with but he in particular was.

IMO He uses it just about as good as any body in the league along with stevens and seems to be getting better every week. Are the commentators dribbling as usual or am i a bit bias cuz i love him?
Sorry its so long i get a bit worked up.

gun gun gun

He's already good enough to play for Victoria -Pendlebury did...:)

If i was a selector Pendles wouldn't have played, neither would Murphy. ;)

Great little player but some of you are overestimating his skills. Certainly not crap like some other supporters/media are suggesting, but not in our top 5 at the club either.

As for being Diesel like - noone will get close as he was just as good on both sides. Not sure what Murph is like on his left side.

Unfortunately the real experts dont agree with all you experts.

With all these 'guns' and 'class' players I expect the Blues to win the premiership this year.

Put some runs on the board then talk. Comparing Marc Murphy to Greg Williams - what a joke.

Still sour from Round 4 hey filth??

Unfortunately the real experts dont agree with all you experts.

Those 'experts' are engaged by the AFL and as such are not independent.

It's not news to anyone that Collingwood players get the nod over more worthy and deserving players just to improve attendance at the game.

Put some runs on the board then talk.

Round 4 2008:
Carlton 17.9.111
Collingwood 13.10.88

And before you start crying about it just being one win etc etc etc

They call it 'bragging rights' for a reason :D

Almost up there with the comparison made by some Collingwood supporters between Dale Thomas & James Hird. That one had me laughing until I almost stopped breathing.

GUN.
He will be a very very good player, don't you worry about that.
He's already well on the way to being one. His form this year has been heaps better than his 07 form - although a bit of it can be attributed to less attention (given his high number of uncontested possessions), his decision making and disposal is the best it's been in his time at the club.

Although I do agree with Greg William in that he needs to win more of the hardball instead of going the receives. If he can improve this aspect, it'll be vital in dealing with taggers (easy to stop uncontested possessions in space, not so much hard ball gets around a contest) and will have him well on his way to becoming an elite midfielder.

Murph has locked in future superstar status. Extreme talent, brilliant awareness and skill execution. And he can do it all under pressure, and when it matters most. :)

He was always going to benefit from having Judd and Stevens in the team. Means he has gone from the No.1 tagged player, to No.3.

Also, having Greg Williams back at the club, combined with Craig Bradley and Brett Ratten, can only help him no end.

he has already shown greater consistency this year than last. with diesel guiding him and less tagging pressure i can see him REALLY tearing it up next year and becoming A grade.

Exactly, any team that nicknames their supposed "gun" Daisy...Pfft what more can I say.

Sigh.... . You didnt mention the greatest kick of all time, future Carlton captain, future brownlow medalist, best of the best, greatest Carlton player of all time and all the other crap that you come up with.

Im sure he will be. Good luck keeping all these gun players when Chris Judd is raking in $1.2 million per season or whatever it is for the next six years. How many superstars can a team support with each 'demanding' a salary around the $1 million mark?

As many as Dick demands, of course. What are you, a moron?

Unlike your mob we've actually got a number of champions in the AFL Team of the Century so nobody around here even dares to dream he'll have a greater impact than Jezza, Big Nick, SOS or Doull. If he has half the impact he'll be a bloody champion! ;)

Is that really true, BD? I thought it was an awful myth that Collingwood had no starters in the VFL/AFL TOC? Surely not?

I think that might be the mass delusion where Regan, Richards et al are all included and they're all married to that 'i don't mind' Cougar chick. It's all straight out of the 'if you clench your buttocks teeth and look constipated for long enough you too can create your own reality' handbook. :D

Has anyone else noticed how often he kicks a goal very early in the match? I haven't looked into it but can remember at least 3 games where he has kicked our first goal of the game.

Ill let you know that Juddy is on about 2.5 million this year & next year something like 1.7. Its heavily front loaded so in after next year he will be on about 450,000 to 500,000 per year for the remaining part of his contract.

Back on Murphy, can't talk highly enough of the kid. Will be a genuine super star of the game, and is showing all signs that he will be the next Ben Cousins (on the field of course).
