Anyone else just been really impressed with his last few games? I was begining to have my doubts about him but he has showed the poise and supperior kicking skills that we drafted him for.

He had 36 touches last night at 80% eff. and showed us what he is capable of.

Looking forward to a big season in '09 from this bloke!

His last two weeks in particular have been excellent. Thought he was close to BOG last week against the Lions. Also, as the season has progressed he's won a lot more of the hardball, which is very pleasing.

I thought in particular his passing into the fwd 50 was just exceptional! Looks like he is finally putting the ball into space rather than trying to drill the perfect pass straight at the man.

Ah yes, I'm so happy for him :D

Robert Walls was saying Murphy was quiet last night
It was probably earlier in the game, sure, but when he said that my mouth dropped because I had seen Murphy being one of the more influential mids.

I'm very glad in the last couple of games he's shown a big improvement in his kicking, especially under pressure.

Well done Murph!

Tradable? Get ****ed :thumbsu:

He said that he was 'underdone' tonight. My mouth dropped aswell as he was clearly in our best!

How annoying is wallsy tho!? everytime fev has a shot 'look at that unusual grip isnt it different from everyone elses' blah blah blah!

Walls was crap last night as to steve quarterbrain.

quarterbrain had an orgasm everytime buddy or luke hodge went near the ball.

Oh yes with hodge being fantastic picking off uncontested possessions in the back 50! Real gutsy and outstanding performance

i wanted 2 start this thread but it awesome that other ppl are recognising murphs efforts.

It still seems sometimes that he and judd are the only 2 willing to bust there guts. His kicking has been exceptional the last month or so. He is 9th in the comp for possessions and 2nd for kicks. This is remarkable for a 20 year old guy in his 3rd year.

Well done murph. Now he just needs 2 tie with fev for the JN medal.

I love his gut running and that it can only get better with another pre-season under his belt and i feel next year will be his break-out into the elite status.

My only criticism of murph is his inability to be aware of others around him. I saw him get run down like that a few times this year yet this i hope is something that can be fixed. Murph has been a real solid player this year and i think some people do not value him as much as they should.

Next year will be a telling year for him. As said before here it'l be his chance to break into the elite midfielders in the comp and i can hardly wait. :thumbsu::thumbsu::D

For someone of Hodge's ability, you'd think he could do more than cherry-picking off the half back line.

As for Murphy, I thought he was very good last night. 36 touches at 80% efficiency is very very good.

Hawthorn could afford to do it. We were smashed in the clearances and there was no need to use hodge in the middle. He is an awesome footballer.

Ratten's fault for letting him do it all game I would've thought....

Ratten's fault for letting him do it all game I would've thought....

Exactly.
The commentators kept flogging themselves over hodge running off cloke and getting cheap kick. There would be a plethora of players in the afl with an ounce of hodges footballing talent that could have done this.

Ratten should not have let this happen all night. I'm not so sure ratten has been as good this year as ppl will have u think. He get outfoxed on gameday allmost on a weekly basis.

Ratted tried to push Cloke back to the goal square, but Hodge just plonked himself about 25m out by himself, rather than manning up. The players we pushed back there, the more Hawthorn players came back with them. Hodge was going to be loose no matter what we did.

And my comment was about Hodge, and nothing to do with what Ratten could have done. In fact, it more points out the tactics of Clarkson more than anything.

I understand what you're saying but surely if one tactic doesn't work you try another and Ratts failed to do that. I suspect he was more concerned with our mids who failed to man up for most of the first half.

As damaging as any player in the competition when allowed to play loose man. Smart move by Clarkson - the amount and quality of forward thrusts that Hodge generated was exceptional, disappointing that Ratten didn't react quicker.

What drugs are you on? Ratten has been great for the club this year, what do you want Pagan? Out coached each week you must be watching a different team than everyone else, 1st year coach with the youngest list and gets 10 wins more than the last 2 years combined and you want to can him, grow a brain and come back in a few years when you know what the hell you are talking about, Ratts has been fantastic for the carlton football club, unlike that old flog Pagan who was out coached every week.
