Also noticed this from the turkeys at Racenet the other day

"Hawkes stable chasing second Group One Australian Cup"

"Hawkes’ father John won the greatest Australian Cup with the champion Lonhro in 2004."

Fair dinkum, he's writing a racing story and he doesn't even bother checking the fact that Octagonal also won it in 1997

In any case I'm not sure a squib like Lonhro falling in over Delzao is anywhere near the iconic Bonecrusher/At Talaq battle

Two of the great Australian Cup race spectacles

Fifty Stars an absolute monty at the 5s now that he has shown a skerrick of form. G1 WFA horse, won this race last year, 2nd to Arcadia Queen in the Spring over this course, taking on absolute garbage here. Time to push all the chips in boys.

The secondary Frenchie should lob a place at odds too showing what a cert old Papp was to run a race ☹

Yup - just what you wanted to see from the old boy in the Blamey on Saturday and was still $8 when they crossed the line and $6 as late as Sunday. Will absolutely murder these if he repeats that. Complete dartboard job if he doesn't win.

This.
Looks like Bivo and NS to bypass the Newmarket and run in Sydney really takes away some of the gloss of the race.

Let alone if they dodge a WFA G1 on the same fecking program they will be running at!

Rumours swirling this morning that the Squib will accept for the Newmarket (note he can accept in both states and still scratch from it).

However if he does accept there is going to be an absolute scramble for good lightweight jockeys as 80% of the field will then race with 52kg or less.
