Apparently it was Piccolo not wanting to go against his Left faction, but not wanting to vote for Weatherill either.

Oh, and no one in their right mind could claim that those ALP "Put Your Family First" cards were anything but fraudulent and contemptuous of democracy. Mind you, I could say the same about a party called Family First especially in light of their policies as well, but anyway.

The Family First affair at least rips any moral hoghground the ALP had left regarding dodgy documents.

Quite frankly I think there should be runoff elections in all seats where these were used on the principle that elections should be free and fair. The principle doesn't mean much if they're only free and fair to the extent that it effects the result.

Of course.

Quite frankly you probably also think they should declare the winners in every seat to be the Liberal candidate to really teach them a lesson.

I find it hillarious.

To be honest, i find the entire concept of a how to vote card perplexing as it is, and have never taken one.

Still, the fact that people went in and physically wrote a number in a box quite voluntarily, knowing its implications then complained that they didnt mean to... and this is getting sympathy...

While I stand by my statement and don't for a second condone the ALP's behaviour, am I the only one who finds it ironic that FF's leader is a former Liberal minister who quoted Tom "our greatest ever premier" Playford in his election material. Of course the manipulation is far more subtle and perfectly legitimate, its still there. FF is clearly the proxy vote for the Liberals, but repackaged for the outer metropolitan aspirational evangelical voters. "Labor", "Liberal" and "Greens" are equally laughable, I admit. Or "Save the Children (except those who are carrying incest or rape babies)".

Agree with the sentiment, but I think Dennis Hood is the leader;)

Also from the AdelaideNow Foley/Weatherill article

Premier Mike Rann also confirmed the appointment of John Rau, Jack Snelling and Grace Portolesi to the frontbench. A decision on portfolios is expected once Labor's return to government is confirmed.

What about Weatherill for A-G then ? Then Rau can take over Weatherill. I'd say Snelling to take over Maywald (River Murray/Water Security) and Portolesi to take over JLO pretty much, with a couple of portfolios shuffled around exisiting Ministers.

Dam that's massive. I work in Government, so going to have to learn all the changes.

Weatherill - Education
Kout to take over Industry & Trade - hang on Foley had that !
Caica - New man to blame for Water

It's up and hilarious!

I swear at some point Frontline's satire just got too real!

My favourite bit is at the end when they're getting stuck into Atkinson (well naturally) and they say "we need an AG who will put due process back into action" and you can scroll down the page to see a typical trademark TT distortion of what actually happened in the McGee case voiced by the same reporter ...

Who are you and what have you done with jo172 :D

I was just pointing out their hypocrisy.

Just because they're hypocrites doesn't make them wrong.

Having said that as a safe bet TT is usually wrong.

What's astounding about that story is that some pretty left peole such as Dean Jaensch were well and truly getting stuck into the ALP yet the partisan fanboys here choose to deflect or defend.

Is it true that after the last state election in 2006, the ALP tried to have HTV cards which they produced in this election banned however it was defeated in the upper house by both the Liberal Party and Family First?

If that is the case, oh the irony and probably explains the lack of comment on this subject by those in the Liberal Party.

According to the Parliament's website no Electoral Amendment Bills of that sort existed and none were defeated in the Legislative Council in the term of the 51st Parliament.

I would suggest you or someone else made that one up out of thin air.
