Comes across as nothing more than a selfish egotist with an overiflated sense of value and enlightenment.

I was secretly hoping at the last Liberal leadership challenge she'd get up, because if she was opposition leader than Labor would have won this election in another landslide . She is so out of touch with reality it's not funny!

What about Rudd, Fitzgibbon and Konstastous or whatever his name is here; the 'born to rule' label is a lot more applicable to the ALP than the Liberal Party these days.

At high school we had a cop who comes in to do road stafety messages for schools and he had a saying that is as true now as it was in the 90's - you drive as if your the only good driver on the road

I consider myself a pretty good driver, not awesome, but pretty good - mainly because I actually pay attention to what other people are doing.

That plan sounds fantastic. However,

- Why would you build a 15 000 seat auditorium when the Entertainment Centre (which has just undergone a major revamp) is just down the road.

- Does Adelaide need a 6 star hotel and another 5 star hotel, this could have the potential to be a massive white elephant.

- The cinema complex in the City will be a flop. There's a reason why there are no mainstream cinemas in the City anymore - suburban cinema complexes offer free parking which a City cinema could never provide. Even in an entertainment precint these cinemas will struggle.

A real waste would be if they spent $100m on a 2km extention, and then didn't proceed with the next stage.

The Liberals have already announced they will scrap further tram expansions if they win government. If they do that, they will make the current expansion somewhat of a white elephant, and one has to wonder what other transport cutbacks are they planning...

Interesting that the Libs plan calls for a stadium with a capacity of 45-65K. Presumably the 65K is when the stadium is in a rectangular configuration, with the extra seats on the playing surface. In its oval (football) configuration, the seating capacity is only 45K - 5K LESS than the proposed AO redevelopment.

Given that the oft quoted 50K figure seems to be one of the major sticking points regarding the AO plans, does anyone feel the need to change their tune now that they realise the alternative has 10% less seats again?

But it will never happen.

I'd be stoked if even 75% of that happened.

Ditch a couple of the hotels and scale a couple of things back and it could be a happening thing.

Will be interesting to see whether this is complete pie in the sky, or they have had interests from private companies about things like the hotels and 'kids entertainment zone.'

I think they've over-cooked it a little, because as it is, it looks amazing - but unrealistic.

Obviously, but I'm wondering whether once you hit a certain capacity, it drastically changes something within the stadium to suit?

I'm still not sure about Redmond, but things like this encourage me;

Anyone read the bit in Freakonomics where the declining crime rate is linked to Roe v Wade? Morally repugnant, but interesting and probably accurate.

I have read this, basically the reduction in crime rates in New York in the 1990's is put down to the introduction of legallised abortion in the 1970's rather than the zero tolerance policy of the 1990's. Like iot or not but the theory has a lot of merit.

this means that the state's chief legal officer is stupid enough to think the prosecution can appeal an accquittal or is trying to mislead the public into thinking they can.

Stormwater - we are the driest state in Oz so how much do we really have to rely on...not alot........wheres the other options Libs

That's an odd justification for your beliefs. We don't have much water, so lets not look at ways at maximising the water the usability of the water that actually falls in our suburbs ... If you consider the Desal plant was their idea first too, and that their interested in real Constitutional reform regarding water rather than pursuing purely political High Court Action I think you'll find they've got many other ideas ....

Just think about it for a while, whilst it rains rarely, think about how much water you see just going down the gutter and being flushed out to sea?

Consider that people can fill up rain tanks for their water consumption needs for gardening/drinking for the whole year just off the water from their roof.

Now picture not just the water falling on the rooves of a select few, but water falling on the entire metropolitan area. That's a shitload of water that can potentially sustain alot of human use.

Harvesting a greater proportion of storm water harvested for human use would greatly increase our water security.

Now I'm no expert on the issue, but that Rann has rejected it on public safety grounds indicates to me that he's just playing politics with it, namely that the opposition can't have a good idea in an election campaign.

Basically our water security position does not allow us to dismiss potentially high grossing solutions in favour of searching for magic options in order to force rain.
