Stunts and big announcements are happening - must be an election coming up?

Michelle Chantelois' pressers - how much impact will her affair have on Rann and Labor.

Southern Expressway duplication - about fecking time!

Has Isobel Redmond had enuf time to stamp her mark on the Libs?

St Clair oval and Thorndon Park land swap-will that be enuf to topple ministers?

Expect the tram-line to be opened to Ent Centre in the week before the election (or maybe Rann/Conlon/Foley/Atkinson will catch a test tram on election day and it will start running on the Monday after (just in case a few bugs :D )

Ok - what's the issues that we hope will be on the agenda?

Water issues for me
Solar Power
Chantelois to disappear she annoys me. Who cares anymore if they screwed around or not. She cheated on her husband, she should be embarrassed not open.
Ohh and any government offering a clean skin stadium for our afl teams :)

I'm convinced the whole Chantelois thing is a set up now, possibly by a liberal party insider. Sure something happened but the woman is a serial pest, just trying to get as much public spotlight as possible. She should crawl back into the hole she came out of.

I been thinking that, too ... payback for the dodgy emails/documents fed by Labor that stuffed the previous Lib leader?

Redmond announces new city stadium - Rann announces AO redevelopment

Redmond puts pressure on land tax(Oct, 09) - Foley announces land tax cuts(Jan, 10).

Rann promises to double expressway - We'll do it too, says Redmond

Differences are few and far between. Perhaps who people will vote on will depend on whether you'll drink treated stormwater ;)

Very good point.

I would rather the government invest this money into subsidising rain water tanks and solar power. If most homes became self sufficient on Power and Water alot of this wouldn't be a problem.

Offer rebate incentives if a houses water consumptions is so many % below the average.

Offer discounted solar packages so people can generate their own power.

Seriously, once this desal plant comes along our water prices are going to increase 2 to 5 times. People struggle now. In addition with other utility costs increasing it's the best way to encourage people to decrease the demand of consumption and a fair dinkum approach to reducing greenhouse gases.

The price of water should already be increased, we have some of if not the cheapest water rates in the world and the least amount of viable water in the world. People abuse water way too much if it were more expensive then people are more likely to be rational with it. I want the governement to offer better green incentives eg rainwater tanks, solar energy, wind energy, worm farms etc etc. I like the idea of a refendum to get the commonwealth to take control but for me we shouldn't need one it should simply happen.

My main interest this election is simply what each government proposes to do about our water crisis.

Proposing is the problem.

Each election federal or state, there are all these proposals and lots of talk, many trips down the Murray by Politicians but NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

Howard gave a feeble attempt of some Commonwealth governing body which loosely fell over. Rudd has sat on his hands, when he's had the best opportunity considering everything is labour at the moment.

At the end of the day, Water is a most essential resource and the Voters aren't pushing this issue hard enough on our politicians TBH.

It's making me ANGRY lol I may start the bigfooty political party lol

Problem is federally, big states like NSW and Vic matter more than us.

I'd like the Liberal party to start pushing the Nuclear debate. I'd also like the Liberal party to field some decent candidates with some profile.

What do you think Isabelle lacks charisma? hehehe They haven't had anyone in years, Dean Brown was probably their best

If my wife/mother repeatedly proclaimed how she had sex with the premier and continually flirted with him for months, I'd be ashamed of being related to a loose slurry whore.

lol i don't have time to scratch my ass kev in between catching water abusers and my family. will just have to hope that there is something about water in the election.

Do you think she is a Liberal cunning stunt? ;)

Max James has announced he will run as an independent for Kevin Foley's seat of Port Adelaide.

All the time being married. It's sort of rubbing it in her husbands face isn't it :)

To me i think the election will come down till the New Stadium/Adelaide Oval debate. I think most people already have in there minds who they are gonna vote for, but the debate over the Stadiums may just swing some of the iffy voters.

I fear for our fine City if that is true. Honestly it's a mockery to us as a state that this is even an election issue!

I can rattle of more important issues.

Water
Hospitals
Education
Structural Development
Employment and Business Planning
Population growth
Future Energy sources & Subsidies
Budgetary slack

Just to name a few. There is even more that can be added to this list. At the end of the day a stadium is just about entertainment and even though entertainment is important to us, it's just that entertainment. It's not a necessity, but I guess this is a problem with society these days. If the masses and distracted by the bright lights of Hollywood and the bells and whilsts of sport, the politcs can fade into the background with not much fussed required.

I implore you as a voter to open your mind and look at the raft of issues our state has and see which party you believe will address the issues you find the most important.

Yeah, i wasnt saying that was the way i was going to vote, but it may be the way a lot of people will vote.

The footy stadium deal is less significant on the grand scheme of things in this election, and the focus of both parties will reflect this.

You've gotta keep in mind that this is big footy, so the focus on stadiums is going to be more exaggerated than what it is outside of here.

Exactly what of that will the opposition be doing different to the current government?

The stadium issue at least has two clear alternatives.

I'm not too sure of that lol

For me the main issues are:

Infrastructure/Spending/Policies

1) Hospitals
I prefer RAH rebuild and save the prime river Torrens district for making our city more appealing to tourists. I do like the Liberals plan better. If a new hospital is needed why not something around the Western/Southern side or Keswick (merging with Ashford)? I DO NOT WANT the Marj.

2) Water
I don't believe Rann has gotten the results via the Murray-Darling system. Also believe Rann has only focused in 2 areas regarding water: MD Systsm and Desal plant. IMO desal plant should have been one of the final options. I think 1st should have been: state policy for mandatory rainwater tanks plummed into the homes (with rebates to help compensate). All these under-utilised roofs are potential water catchments. 2nd should be metrowide stormwater treatment and grey water re-use... ala Salisbury council and Mawson Lakes. I don't mind the idea of drinking stormwater (our current water comes from a muddy river system) as similar works are used in Europe etc... but this would be the a less preferred option equal with a desal plant.

3) Trust
I don't trust Rann at all. Whilst I don't give a crap about Michelle Challtelois and the supposed affair... I think where there is smoke there is fire. I think Rann is trying to "hide" it and think he should have just came out and admitted it immediately. Now it appears he is trying to cover things up, he appears manipulative and false. Whilst the actual affair is a non-event... his handling of it portreys him as untrustworthy. As for the Liberals, Isobel Redman does appear more trust worthy (as far as politicians go)... just seems like there is less media "spin" with her for the sake of popularity.

4) City Stadium
For so long the current government voiced no support for an inner city stadium. As soon as the Liberals showcased their proposal and it proved popular the Labour party all of sudden became interested... despite allocating funds for AAMI expansion and infrastructure to AAMI.

Cheers

Talking to Francis Bedford she is adament the old location for the hospital isn't big enough and logistically redeveloping would be a nightmare. I can see what she is saying.

But I am with you, I like the new Stadium option, but IMO we can't have both which means A.O would need to go.

Water is the priority. I don't like the desal plant, it's a desperate last resort act. I would much rather see the $$$$ put into storm water harvesting and better water retention and promoting a solar panel grant with a view to encouraging as many people as possible to convert to solar electricity. Not to mention subsidise houses to collect their own rainwater and connect it to their plumbing. My neightbour across the road did it, I am looking ath the logistics. But making a significant portion of adelaide water and power self sufficient will alieviate alot of our rosource issues IMO.
