after seeing the bargain basement prices certain players are moving clubs (who have shown significantly more than Marcus Adams i find this quite puzzling)

-Nic Newman shown alot more for the swans, future fourth rounder
-Travis Colyer future fourth rounder
-Jordan roughead (im gonna stop stating the exact values but all of the below are third rounders, fourth rounders etc)
-Jackson Thurlow
-Jack Hombsch
-Sam Mayes
-Taylor Dureya
-Aaron Hall
-Sam Lloyd
-Will Setterfield

Ill ignore Scully, Horlin Smith trades

we just love to be reamed at the table

But they need to want to be here and unfortunately they don't so their price is irrelevant to us.

Understand he is known as “the specimen”.
Would love to be a fly on the wall for his first gym session with Stef!!
Maybe he should take Hippy on board as his training buddy.
Although there are a lot saying that his body type is the reason why he is never on the park.
So not sure that’s a great idea considering we would be up shit creek if we can’t get Hippy on the park.

I bet they are more intelligent people than me who run the club who have had a great track record bringing in great people.

Ryan Bastinac, Tom Bell, Jack Frost, Josh Walker, jarrad jensen, to name a few have been great players who the club identified and brought to the club.

Not every argument about questionable trade decisions is "well they know more than you since they run our club so thats why you are wrong

Wellll.... You are comparing 2 different eras, 2 different management groups & personnel, 2 different recruiting strategies, and really 2 very different positions the club found themselves in at the time.

Most of those you list came to fill gaps left when others walked out. We were more than happy at that stage to have ANYONE come to the club. And compared to those we had on our list at the time they were upgrades. That's why Bastinac, Bell and Walker walked into the best 22.

Rewriting history to prove a point is badly flawed when the differences between the 2 things are as glaringly different as they are here.

Yes we recruited those players. But blaming the current management of the club is about as wrong as it gets.

Maybe it's more the training he's done to end up looking they way he does.

It's hard to believe in a professional environment people can train incorrectly but I'd be suspicious we believe that and it's why we're willing to take a chance on him. More and more now programs are based on deeply invidualised needs looking strongly at the mechanics of your body and movement.

It seems to me we've not only got a professional in Austin, we're prepared to back him in in both Adams and McCarthy's cases.

Some peoples bodies are simply weaker. Regardless of how much muscle. I wonder what his injuries have been.

New Brisbane utility Marcus Adams also fronted the media on Friday after his trade from the Western Bulldogs.

The injury-plagued defender said he wanted a fresh start and he looked at several clubs.

Adams said Brisbane told him he will have different opportunities and he was looking forward to not playing as "the primary defender in the dungeon".

I have a great relationship with Ross: Neale - http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-19/i-have-a-great-relationship-with-ross-neale

From an article in The Age yesterday : Adams said Brisbane told him he will have different opportunities and he was looking forward to not playing as "the primary defender in the dungeon".

I'm confused, isn't this the exact reason he would be brought in? If not then who does he replace in the backline? Are they considering moving him forward? Then the only one he can replace is McStay

I would say he replaces Walker in the starting line up.

Its a bit of a myth we are stacked in this area.

Backline

Andrews, Gardiner - long term locks.

McStay - needed more forward, not a home run yet.

Walker, Eagles - year to year fluctuating form / project players, not locks

Payne, Skinner, Wooler - unknowns

There is plenty of room for Adams there, when fit he sits right at the top of that tree next to Gards and Andrews and I believe the hope is he can play the swing man role.

I guess not

Walker you’d assume

Nope Noble said he’ll start down back

I think he'll be happy to be down back with the support he'll have around him rather than be a pretty big focus like he was at WB. But yeah you can see him potentially being the new Walker in the team - the swingman.

I like Walks but, and he does his best work when he's challenged and under pressure. It won't do either of them any harm to have to fight for their spot.

I see him competing with the big O for the fwd/ruck spot.

But i think he is behind Oscar.

Maybe we've sold him on Gardiner being the shut down defender, so Adams can take a more attacking role with Andrews the designated interceptor.

Would love to see him and Hipwood up forward, with a combo of Andrews and either Skinner or Payne down back. Walker would have to be a third tall at best, although Darcy would be our prefered. With Alex down there as well, and Rich, and Hodge. its looking pretty healthy.

I agree he replaces walker, but with Gardner taking a medium forward, Andrews playing intercept then surely Adams has to play the #1 forward.
