This makes sense, and I think based on this the deal should get done.

Would happily offer next year 2nd round pick to get the deal done, plus Suban :)

By all accounts the club has known since mid year - he basically gave up on his AFL career at 18 to look after his brother who was the victim of a one-punch attack, close family.

We have been pretty reasonable if you have followed our other trades this off season. But I think you are on crack if you are expecting a first rounder for Adams. He is probably worth an early second rounder (he's only played 11 games hasn't he?) but given he has requested to come home I think any 2nd rounder would be more than fair. Unfortunately these things happen to all clubs but it is swings and roundabouts.

Mate Weitering played not many more games than Adams as well - but both were picked in Teams of the Week early this year.

Adams is not a potential gun - he is already a gun. That doesn't mean I'm on crack if you haven't seen enough of Adams to understand that Adams is a gun.

Hamling and Adams are in different leagues.

Dogs are pretty reasonable traders but I don't see us accepting worse than say P20. Just my opinion.

But he's only really been necessary down there because McKenzie has been rooted since his knee.

He's never going to be an 80 goal a year forward, but he's less likely to squib it in big games than Darling.
I don't see McGovern and MacKenzie as similar players at all. One is an elite interceptor/rebounding CHB, the other is a negating full back. Even with MacKenzie back to his best 2014 form, I still think they need McGovern at CHB. I'd stick with Barrass and McGovern if I were them as they'll become two of the best pair of key defenders in the AFL imo.

In fairness, a 10 year old would be less likely to squib it in a big game than Darling.

Personally, unless the situation for him is dire, if I were the Bullies I would not be entertaining the idea of a trade. He was only drafted last year, and should see out this first contract at least.

Oh wait... Tom Boyd.

Forget that. As you were.

Who said McGovern and McKenzie have to be similar players?

Sorry, I thought you said McGovern only had to play down back because MacKenzie wasn't back to form?

Were you not talking about McGovern? Anyway, this has little to do with Marcus Adams.

Most coaches don't swap players role-for-role. I thought that would have been obvious.

We handled that a lot better than the McCarthy situation.

A lot of happy Freo fans it seems, long way to go to claw yourself back from 3rd last to Premiers though:)

You can have half our list, I'll calm myself down by watching a replay of the granny.

Yeah fair enough. If you are saying pick 20, then that is almost an early 2nd so it seems we are pretty close to agreement. I was reading your "worth a 1st rounder" as more in the 10-15 range. Hamling probably would have been in Team of the Week for quite a few finals btw ;) I do agree Marcus Adams is becoming a gun but I think you probably need more than 11 games to declare him a gun already. I watched a fair bit of him early in the season and he was very good in most games but I also thought he was a bit ordinary against North, Geelong and Sydney (ie against the top teams at that point of the season). The best KPDs (eg McGovern who we were talking about above, Rance etc) are consistently good week in, week out.

Winners are grinners I'm sure you are still celebrating and rightly so

What would we need to gove up for Marcus. Less or more than for Hamling? Reading between the lines Hamling is staying and Adams can't see a spot .

My thoughts also but then I read that M.Boyd signed an extension too so maybe Hamling isn't staying?!

I just want to know!

Adams has a really unwell brother . He has a legit reason to come home. I think Hamling will stay with the Bullie's unless we get Hamling and Adams goes to WC.

Well done on gf, keeping smelling the roses.

As for us climbing the ladder, add a full year for Bennell, Fyfe, A Pearce, and Sandilands combined bringing in B Hill and Mccarthy. That's 3 A grade talent and 3 B grade players. They replace C grade players.

If we get Adams or Hamling into mixed, we will be replacing a third of the team with A and B grade talent.
