Yeah fair enough. If you are saying pick 20, then that is almost an early 2nd so it seems we are pretty close to agreement. I was reading your "worth a 1st rounder" as more in the 10-15 range. Hamling probably would have been in Team of the Week for quite a few finals btw ;) I do agree Marcus Adams is becoming a gun but I think you probably need more than 11 games to declare him a gun already. I watched a fair bit of him early in the season and he was very good in most games but I also thought he was a bit ordinary against North, Geelong and Sydney (ie against the top teams at that point of the season). The best KPDs (eg McGovern who we were talking about above, Rance etc) are consistently good week in, week out.

He dropped away a little due to injuries. Fully fit he was awesome.

Unlike Hamling, Adams is contracted so I doubt he goes for unders like Hamling would have.

I'd put his value at somewhere 10-20. 20 is the lowest.

Something like P7 and 35/43 for our 18 is around the mark IMO. Maybe your points nerds can see if that sits in the 15-20 range.

Just a gut feel on value.

But seriously, next to Weitering, Adams has been the best new KPD to come on the scene in the last couple of years IMO.

Guys long leg and his marking are absolute weapons.

Fully fit - he is an out and out gun IMO.

Potentially a massive pick up for Freo. Lot more runs on the board than McCarthy had when Freo offered two first rds. So even at the price I've suggested it's a bargain IMO.

Backing Freo in to get both Hamling and Adams, mini rebuild complete, along with our first draft pick and Shane Kersten. Would be absolutely stoked!
That's pick 7,Brad Hill,Mcarthy,Adams,Hamling,Kersten in one trade period. That would be incredible.

We handled that a lot better than the McCarthy situation.

A lot of happy Freo fans it seems, long way to go to claw yourself back from 3rd last to Premiers though:)

You can have half our list, I'll calm myself down by watching a replay of the granny.

I was actually being 100% legit when I started that post. But then the Tom Boyd situation came into my head, and the fact you guys got him after one year. Swings and roundabouts, really.

And if there was one team I loved seeing win the granny (other than one day a Freo win), it was yours, so just settle down a little sunshine.

Adams has a really unwell brother . He has a legit reason to come home. I think Hamling will stay with the Bullie's unless we get Hamling and Adams goes to WC.

Adams brother's health was no secret when he was drafted, it was a little risky by WB using 35(?) on him..

Possibly time to have the GF replay on standby as I think you might be disappointed if you think you'll extract a pick #10 or so for him from either West Coast or us. I suspect you'll keep at least one of Hamling and Adams, possibly both.

If I had a choice, I would take just Adams (for pick(s)) and keep Apearce and Collins as the core of our backline. I thought Collins played really good smart footy for a first year AFL player this year and would not want to give him up. Then use Adams and Collins as the KPDs and Apearce as the Jonno/Ibbo sweeper-rebounder role. Silvagni and the old boys (Dawson/Ibbo) as back up until they retire. With Jonno playing the odd game early while Apearce recovers (and later when needed) and then falling into a backline assistant coaching type role for the rest of the year.

Basically agree with your position. Adams is an bona fide AFL player and fairly young - that starts the pricing at a good 2nd rounder I reckon and goes up from there.

However, and being a Dogs fan you might know better than us, how is his injury situation? I was under the vague (and maybe wrong) understanding that there's been some complications with the surgery on his hand. After the year we've had with injuries and never ending recoveries etc., it's the sort of baggage that I'm not keen on.

Well considering he said he'd be willing to stay at Dogs for 2017 and they're playing hardball would rather just wait. Pearce / Collins > . Do not want to trade Collins and depth players won't cut it w/ 35

Which was well known to all when he was drafted so Bulldogs took a risk getting him just before Fremantle were going to take him. Makes for a messy situation though while he is still contracted and with Hamling as well Bulldogs will want some depth Defenders because Boyd and Morris are getting on. Both us and WC probably interested, probably us more so. Silvagni and Collins could be options going the other way but would need a pick as well. Dawson would have no currency

I just can't believe after all the years that we have wanted players to come back to WA all of a sudden it is just happening.
Funny thing is that if the McCarthy deal had gone thru last year we would have been screwed.
The list managers must be very relieved and feeling very lucky. Also I think Bondy is a Scottish tight Arse and having take a lesser role in trade period is a master stroke.
