Recommitted Marcus Bontempelli [Re-signed until 2025]

In no way a surprise but the AFL website reporting that:

Skipper Marcus Bontempelli is the Dogs' biggest name free agent this season and is edging towards a new long-term deal that could be announced in coming weeks.

He wants 6 years apparently Dogs want to give him a 5 year deal money no issue, He deserves 6 years if Dusty, Lynch, Coniglio & Grundy got 7.

literally no one:

Richmond fans: oh, look a thread about Marcus Bontempelli. Let me tell you all how good Tom Lynch and the Richmond list management team is.

Almost done apparently. Just ironing out the incentives/triggers around contract length.
Probably haggling over how the E J Whitten stand being renamed will be handled.

Collingwood have given him plenty to think about and that is the hold up. The spike in the Dogs form has made it harder to leave as he wouldn't want to walk out straight after winning another flag.
Have you listened to any interview the Bont has had regarding his contract? He is going nowhere and they are just haggling over contract duration whilst also trying to negotiate some of our other contracts at the same time in order to push money around in certain years. What makes you think he is going to Collingwood?

Lol at anyone who believes the narrative that they only forced out Treloar/Stephenson so they could have a dip at Bont. Their cap is ****ed and 12 months after pushing blokes out to stay under its not going to be magically ready to throw millions at another player.

That's even ignoring the fact there is next to no chance he would want to leave the Dogs where he is on good money anyway and even less of a chance he'd want to join the Pies who have stacks of issues even outside of the fact they are on a downward trajectory.

Pies - “we can’t afford you but would be willing to offload more players to help, less money and drink vouchers at Morris Jones”.

Bont - “ohhhh that’s tough, let my manager get back to you”.

Collingwood remain confident - the money they can open up off field is what is causing the delay in him staying- add it all together and it's life changing money
