Davies to make his debut
Marcus Davies will become the 1128th player to represent the Carlton Football Club in the AFL when he makes his debut in Friday night’s match against Essendon at the MCG.

He will wear the number 31 guernsey for Carlton the number worn in 100 or more games for Carlton by Tom Alvin, Charlie McInnes and Ernest ‘Ansell’ Clarke.

blueblood25 won't be able to control herself tomorrow night.

It's fair to say I'll have a raging lady boner tomorrow night. :D

Beyond excited. Marcus deserves this and I hope he relishes every second of it.

Just look at our beastly recruiting this year. Love it.

Tassie Blue's crucial debut

TASMANIAN Marcus Davies will become the state's sixth debutant this season when he pulls on a Carlton jumper for the first time in the blockbuster against Essendon at the MCG tonight.

The strongly built running defender, taken with pick No. 43 in last year's draft, didn't look out of place in the pre-season but has had to bide his time to break into the Blues' senior outfit.

SMASH HIM MARCUS.
err i mean...............

I thought he struggled tonight, to be honest.

He looked slow and unsure when he had the ball and was beaten when he had to play man on man.

Having said that, I'm certainly not writing him off as most of that could well be attributed to nerves. Deserved his chance to show what he has to offer and should not be dropped. Most players take a while (certainly more than 1 game) to adjust to the rigours and the pressure of AFL football so he should stay in the side.

Nothing I saw him do poorly tonight cannot be worked on and I'm sure that is exactly what will happen. With more time he'll become more composed and he now knows what he needs to do to improve.

Hardingham is very good overhead, and I'm not just saying that based on tonight but watching him in the WAFL last year.....he's had a few years playing against men. I reckon some more seasoned players would have battled to beat KH in the air tonight. He released some decent handballs under pressure, but we didn't see much of the dash he is capable of, that'll come with confidence. Game number 1 for Marcus, he'll learn from that.

The problem might be that Bower is still out of form but I am not going to worry about that tonight

Looks ok but another midfield type defender we won't win a flag with too many smalls in the backline although.I'll keep him in the backline and move Gibbs and Russell away and bring in 2 talls in the future with Bower.

Spudsy you are off your face more than ever.

Lucas had a nervous/shaky first game and got pinged a few times but bounced right back and earned his spot in the team.

Marcus was much the same on Friday night. Looked a little lost at times but lucky for him Hardingham couldn't kick a greasy stick up an elephants ahole. (ew)

I love this man. Once he gets a few preseasons under his belt and his body develops even more he's gonna be a bloody superstar. He'll be able to break those tackles and will destroy whoever is on the other end of his. There shouldn't be any changes to the team this week, there wasn't one passenger and Marcus just the same should get another chance to prove himself.

SO. A bit of a season wrap up for Marcus :)

From the Blueseum:

After some strong mid-season form, Davies was selected for his debut near the end of his first year on the list - a great result in any recruiting story. Let's see how he goes!

Davies would make his debut against one the Blues fiercest rivals Essendon in his first year at the club. It took a while for him to adjust to the tempo of the game, but settled further the game progressed. Davies had the good fortune of playing in a win on debut wearing the No.31 that was proudly worn previously by Carlton greats in Tom Alvin and Ron Barassi. 5 games straight demonstrated some real upside, and 2011 awaits for the young Tasmanian...

Good start by Marcus. With Thornton being a whiny mole, Marcus had a spot to fill (and should keep it). He should be more settled in 2011 and once he can find some poise to accompany his ballsy attack he'll be hard to stop. Playing in the elimination final against Sydney was good experience and I hope he uses it well to his advantage.
