What are you talking about?

Mackenzie is worth around pick 30.
Flanders is worth around pick 15.

Windhager in the middle of those two.
Not from posters coming onto our board. We are being told Cmac is worth a top 15 first and Flanders similar.

Given our trade rival doesn't even have a coach, its reassuring to read we aren't completely out of the race just yet.

We have our first round pick this year and plus a full hand of picks next year plus if Marshall or windhager go we will receive decent compensation for them , we have more than enough assets to make a trade happen if he requests one

They dont want picks they want players and you dont have that.

Melbourne seems like an odd fit given their midfield is pretty set and they don't have a coach currently, but if that's his wish then best of luck to him.

Our midfield is shit. It lacks a player like Windhager. We have finished bottom 6 the last two seasons cos our midfield sucks.

One or two of Oliver/Petracca/Viney will go. Hopefully Sparrow too. Rivers should be moved to halfback where he belongs.

There might be people who would contemplate an unknown over Clarkson? I might.

Anyways, the coach will apparently be announced in the next week or so - I assume anyone who has been made an offer is allowed to sit on it until an announcement

They have two academy players that could be both bid on in the top 5 this year that they need to match bids on they always need picks

They will have enough picks to match those. What they need are good players which you dont realistically have for a swap.

Put it this way if you had a 100m sprint race for Windhager Bulldogs and Melbourne would be 99.9m ahead of our club in the race to land him.
The only way we could land him would be a 6 year deal at $1M a year and his not worth it.
At this moment in time we be struggling to attract the clap to our club.

No first year coach would trade those players

It’s a tough argument to make when you’ve been buying up all the other $1m houses for $2m.
I'm referencing the allegation of being low-balled. Buyers set the value based on what they are prepared to pay. North believe he is worth more. We believe he is worth less. Once again, you can't compare TDK or Sos to Windy. Different players, different roles.

I can see why it would ruffle feathers. That's human nature.

The problem is that we are guided by what we hear in the media. Manager says "we are $50k apart"; media takes it and the headline is "Saints low-ball player".

Anyway, time will tell. Club will put it's best offer forward. If it's not adequate, we move on.

Just seems like there is very little strategy involved. All short term sugar hits with no long term vision.

Offer Windhager unders because you have lesser players on the list who could play his role. ā€œCouldā€ being the key word here with the switch up from rebuild thinking to finals now.

Offer TDK severe overs despite having Marshall, a superior ruckman, and Dodson, a great young kid who aligns perfectly with Marshall slowing down.

Very inconsistent imo. It will be a shame for the Saints to lose a home grown NGA kid and after all the fuss about academy advantages it makes it further baffling.
A bit like the Judd / Kennedy trade, yeah?

I expect a future pick from the Dees for him. 23* will likely be pushed back to the 30 mark where a bid for Fincher will be likely anyways.

Considering dees have no coach atm I’m surprised he would be leaning that way
I'm more surprised that North are yet again looking to burn capital on a midfielder. Yes, he offers something different to your current group, but it's going to be a woefully unbalanced team if you're trying to cram Windhager, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Parker, LDU, FOS, McKercher, Simpkin, Powell, Stephens and potentially Phillips and Scott into the 22, all while once again rocking with Pink, Logue and Comben as KPDs.

Weird list build, if we're being honest.

On the fence whether Saints should keep or flick Windhager. On the one hand, apparently a very solid citizen, trainer and a decent to good AFL player.

On the other hand, probably not far below his ultimate ceiling as a player, he's been a key part of the midfield that has underwhelmed the last couple of years, he's very vanilla and doesn't hurt with ball in hand.

Saints contract offers to him appear to mirror the above, happy to keep him, but on certain terms, not devo if they lose him.

Very open to negotiating one of your KPPs for Phillips and/or Scott.
