To assume that a book is evil, you have to give it the value of being immoral or wicked. How can a book be immoral or wicked? A book can't actually do anything, it's cardboard and paper.

Man created the book. Man chooses to follow its instructions. Man commits the acts of depravity. The book does NOT exist independently of man.

I think she's hiding her good old fashioned prejudices behind her faith. Some of the earliest, and most vocal anti Apartheid voices were Christian ones. It's probably impossible to reconcile Christianity with Apartheid unless you're Dutch Reformed Church, and we're talking Book of Mormon weird there anyway.
