What does everyone think about him? He is a project player who could come in as a 3rd or 2nd tall defender, could even play on the wing because he has good fitness and agility. He is still only 17 so he has a bit of growing to do, a few pre seasons in the gym and you may see the best of him...

Can't say I have seen play, so I have had to rely on other peoples view. Missed the championships due to injury, but was happy when his name was read out on draft day.

Was considered a first/second round selection prior to injury before the Champs. In that sense, we have a steal on our hands, a great selection at 35.

Looking forward to him and Bower playing out of defense together in 2008.

this is a fallacy as far as i'm concerned. every club thinks that they have a steal on their hands. we just have to wait and see how he goes because as someone else said no one on here is seen him play yet.

He was rated a first/second round choice before injury. Recruiters have said this, as have our resident experts here on BF.

I think Gilly has seen him play - once or twice perhaps.
Think he saw him play on ABC2 IIRC.

I have seen him play as some others who get ABC2 may have. He played a few games for Glenelg seniors towards the end of the season. Mainly played at FB on bigger bodied more mature blokes, but mostly held his own. Is a great size and has a good body shape to bulk up, is reasonably quick for his size as well, and IIRC his draft camp results for the 20m and repeat 20m sprints were good too. From what i saw in the SANFL he was very disciplined defender, played tight on his man and has a good reach and spoil. On a few occasions he was too easily out-muscled and out-wrestled by his opponents but that is to be expected of a 17 yo. I think he shows quite a bit of promise as a long term prospect for FB and was an astute selection by WH.
 
Yeah saw him play towards the end of the yr aswell.

Was pushed over very easily at times by fowards who wernt really that big in comparison to what he will come up against. Besides that look to be a very disciplined, smart defender as Gilly suggested.

Give him time to build up before we expect too much of him though!

Do you know that the correct English is ’has seen’.

No personal offence but this particular error is becoming common these days and it is just ugly English.

I've never seen that error before. It doesn't seem to fit any venacular, so is probably a case of the brain not working in tandem with the fingers. Happens when you post a lot and type quickly. 'Would of' instead of 'would have' is the really bad one IMO.

Guys met Austin in the Carlton Shop y'day and he really is a nice bloke. asked him how he was feeling on draft day and he said that he couldnt believe that he went that high (pick 35 as we all know). He thought he would go around the 45 -55 mark. He is a fairly good size which i hope fills out over the next few years. IMHO i think he may struggle to get a game this year but will come on the year after when his body has put on some size.
