Agree...he had some brilliant tap downs tonight...and he's starting to find it around the ground more.

Laid a brilliant bump on an Essendon player (Mark Johnson?)

Yep - give him games - can only get better. Has to play when King doesnt - and sometimes when he does.

He has even kicked the ball in the last 3 weeks!!!

He must have doubled his kicks for the season (hell, his career). He's definitely improving, getting a bit more confidence in regards to his skills and giving away less frees in the rucking.

I thought he was good again for the second week in a row!

Thoughts?

Agreed. I reckon Blake has copped a bit of flak unfairly earlier on the year too. These big blokes do take a bit longer to get their 5hit together and I reckon Blake will be a player for us.

I have been one of his biggest knockers due to his lack of ticker that he has shown but even i will concede that he is showing more resolve and hardness at the ball. I heard that the coaching staff told him a few weeks ago to stop playing like a girl and it fired him up. He played well in the twos for the next few weeks before being elevated to the seniors. It was exactly what he needed. So he is worth persisting with - his decision-making is still pretty poor in my opinion - last week he gave away a stupid free kick in front of goal in the last quarter with a ridiculously clumsy hip and shoulder when he should have tackled.

With Blake and King in the side it would free up Ottens to play FF for the majority of a match. It would be good to see how #6 would go in that position for a whole match rather than in infrequent 10 minute bursts. Especially interstate.

True...if Ottens is to play forward, we need him to do it on a regular basis. But yeah, alot relies on the fitness of King.
