You live in casey for a reason. Mummy did not spit the dummy that was Blake when his associates SMS'd SEN of his non appearance at a grand final.

It took a revised stupid offer from Sydney to move him, and he was not out there looking to move.

You're clearly a genius level poster.

Care to nominate which Grand Final Blake didn't attend?

And Mumford stated himself that if he'd been played in the Grand Final it would have been more likely that he would have stayed. A guy of 18 games experience dictating to the club the terms of his employment? What a w***er.

child, your language is a clear indication of your lack of polish

Mumford did not dictate terms, but had to assess an offer. The club wanted him to stay.

Blake was the one who threatened the club. Maybe you should deal in facts not the manure that surrounds you.

I remember reading that Geelong couldn't come close to offering what Sydney were in length of contract, money and opportunities at senior level (the chance to compete for the lead ruck position not fight for the second position).

I would guess they were only offering the one year contract because of the salary cap restrictions and the desire to sign players such as Ablett

Also the offer is rumored to be 4 years and 1.2 million

I think what he meant by non-appearence was his non playing appearence in '07

He was asked the question by a reporter if he would have stayed if he played in a premiership. All he said was that it would have been hard to leave after winning a flag. Just a standard PC answer really, not sure how he dictated terms of employment? What was he meant to say?

I have also heard this rumour about Blake but it also included that GFC would be interested in Josh Fraser.

Josh Fraser? Let's swap one spud for another why don't we?

Let's go after one of the Brisbane Rucks, they maybe just desperate enough to trade one out this year.

Besides Ottens is so close to retirement it isn't funny, maybe one more year if we are lucky. So to discard Blake at this stage would not be a wise move.

The only reason the Cats would get Fraser is to throw shit at him and point and laugh because he is such a knobjob

Only repeating what I was told guys. I dont like Fraser anymore than the next person. If there is any truth to these rumours (which I highly doubt), then I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Mumford said: "Look, I don't care about the money I just want to play every game"

Balme and Bomber said: "Look, we can't guarantee you'll play every game but based on injuries and form of the other ruckmen we can tell you that you'll play a lot of games. Oh and we can't afford much so we can only pay you a little bit above league minimum"

Roos and Longmire said: "We'll play you every single game as #1 ruckman and we'll pay you $1.2m over 3 seasons"

Was there really any other decision that he could have made???

Fraser's body is shot so no point.:thumbsd:

If we must get an older ruckman I'd rather we go after Cox because he's still physically up to it.

If Blake went ideally I'd prefer someone younger who could play for us for 7-8 years as Mummy would've done...names like Goldstein or McIntosh or Clark or Leunberger or Ryder come to mind, but we wouldn't get any of them, so maybe Cox. But NO WAY Fraser.

You're absolutely right. Hence why I don't blame Mumford. Or even Sydney really (they wouldn't have tried to poach him had Jolly not left). But that's why he should've been re-signed mid season when he was in good form, with a promise of rookie elevation (much as we have done with Pods). At that stage I am sure he would have been more than happy to accept less money, and given he was a senior starter (in fact he was THE ruckman then while Blake was in the VFL) lack of games wouldn't have been an issue in his thinking. The situation where both Blake and Mumford were out of contract in trade week should never have been allowed to happen because with the rarity of ruckmen as a commodity, it was always likely in that scenario one would be poaches somewhere. It should've been dealt with earlier.

You seem to have left out the critical part of the conversation:

Geelong: "We're going to be challenging for a flag next season."

Sydney: "We're going to be middle of the road."

La glorie apparently had no appeal.

Come on, the guy just wants to play at the top level week in / week out.

That's basically all this came down to: simply playing the game

Yes. Nice wrap up.

Still the club wanted him and you can see why. He has turned into a terrific player. But the promise of future reward over his being dropped in late 2009 due to tiredness and lack of form wasn't enough to sway him. So he left. For money, game time whatever, but he still left and in the game vs Swans at Kardinia Park when Blake kicked a long goal from the boundary Mooney sure let Mumford know about it.

This is the basic difference between the 2 players. Blake played almost every game in 2007 and was dropped for the Grand Final. He was then allegedly offered a good deal to go to St Kilda. He refused and stayed at Geelong for less money and for only a 2 year contract. When Mumford was put in the same position he took the money and ran. Can I blame him? Sure! Others stayed at the club for less money and took pay cuts - Harley played for very little money in his last 2 seasons! That's why I couldn't give a flying fig for Mumford. The club took him in, trained him up, developed him and told him they wanted him to stay. Then he pissed on everything the club did for him. How dare he question the judgment of the club that did so much for him? He can feck off to the Swans for a mediocre career while my team continues to fight and win and sacrifice themselves for each other and the club.

That's twice now you've played the man. :p

Answer the question: which Grand Final did Blake not attend?

If you can answer that correctly I'll give consideration to everything else you say. If not then... well, I'd have to question everything you say as being unreliable.

Your call

The Gold Coast would be logical destination for Blake, when you think about it. They could pick him for nothing in the pre-season draft, he could get his big salary and regular game.

I really hope we keep him, i think he is a useful player, but the only way that will happen is if he is picked for the finals which is looking a little bit shaky at this stage.

How about our first rounder for Blake?
Fair trade as we get a young developing ruckman and you guys get a decent pick which enables you to build after your current dynasty.
