Opinion Mark Blicavs

How hard is it to understand?

He is in the team due to his flexibility. If a ruck goes down, he is sent to the 2nd ruck role. If we lose a key defender, he goes down back. If we need a reshuffle up forward, he goes back as cover for Taylor it Hendo going forward. If an opposition mid gets away from us, he is a primary option to play a run-with role.

If none of these things happen, he plays as an adequate midfielder who is very good as second man up and runs all day and stretches his man going forward.

Not a superstar, but a solid performer and very important to our team balance. He is very valuable in this regard and thus why he plays EVERY WEEK.
Exactly, and superbly put .
People trying to compare him with mids, rucks, wingers, KF, KB- therein is the answer- he can assist in every one of those spots, and his work ethic is superb.
Not all players have to amass big stats.

Some people just don't count.
Even if they attended every game last year, including interstate, their knowledge of what was required of each player, and how they performed what was asked, attitude, training, etc would not stack up with those in the know.
Even our own voting system here is different to the coaches votes most weeks.
We are entitled to opinions, but they are just an outlet.

Obviously they know more then us, but that doesn't make them infallible does it?

If we simply used that line of reasoning there'd be no need for this forum I guess, just pop in every now and again to blindly give the thumbs up to everything the MC do.

He beat Selwood, Taylor, Hawkins, Motlop, SJ, Boris, and the rest, pretty good players there- and furthermore, plenty predicted it.
Again, if he was available as a trade, plenty of teams would be interested. You must talk to non Cat fans.
We don't appreciate how lucky we are to have a player with his versatility. He can be played in multiple positions depending on need, and the coach can rely on him to give 100%.
Which players don't give 100 percent?

Selwood played the season injured and was a shadow of his normal self. Taylor, enright and hawkins had bad seasons by their own standards. We sacked SJ after his performance last year. Odd that you put him. Motlop was better than blicavs even with a slow start to the season. So was guthrie. Duncan, bartel and Menzel were all injured.

Wrong - the reason his contract wasn't renewed isn't because of his on field output; that has been stated plenty of times but some people just don't want to believe it for some reason

Not at all, the whole purpose is to have a cathartic experience, but not to assume superior knowledge than those in the know, or to post as if these people are acting outside the interests of our team.
Humility as a supporter in times of winning and losing..
Acknowledging that the people who are elected to run our team are there after stringent selection criteria, and they work crazy hours each day, and are totally over-scrutinized by us and the media.

I hadn't considered it like this before. Thanks, very well put.

Don't think that having an opinion assumes either of those things though Vdubs, and as I pointed out, even with their superior inside knowledge they still make **** ups, nothing wrong or disrespectful in pointing that out IMO.

Evidence? Plenty of people say it. But never with any proof. He was given the coaches award last year. You tend not to get those if your off field performance is that bad it gets you kicked out of the club.

So does that mean you think getting rid of mark Blake as the coaches did must of been the right call and that your opinions on the value mark brought to the team was ultimately wrong?

I've got a brick wall here mate, you'll have more luck convincing it. ;)

Given the role Blicavs is playing, is there anyone capable of doing it better in the reserves that he is holding out?
I'd be mighty impressed if anyone here could describe his role with any confidence/authority.

Nope, not at present, if we had another gun midfielder available his position would be somewhat tenuous though you'd suspect.

Show us the "proof" and us skeptics will be convinced. And by proof I don't mean a bunch of people wearing tin foil hats "reading between the lines" of an interview. ;)

The irony of you accusing others of wearing tin foil hats.

From what I've seen this year I'm not sure Blicavs even could ;)
Funny, but seems unlikely. I'm pretty confident he and the club know what it is but it is unconventional and therefore hard for footy simpletons like me to comprehend. ;)

Does Adelaide have another spare?

Doubt it. They only have one by my count.
Sloane. Thompson cooked. Crouch brothers aren't there yet.

Point is though they don't grow on trees and all sides have bit part role players, looks like Blitz is now a role player.

Yeah, I agree on current output. He just seems to have a bit of a crisis of confidence at the moment with ball in hand - his defensive work is still A-grade in the middle, but needs to speed up his decision-making.
