I see over at the Cats web page they have Blicavs weighing in at 95kgs. Has anyone seen him train lately? That is a fair amount of weight to dump on as he was listed at 78kgs last year. 17 kgs is a fair bit and it leaves me skeptical. Anyone seen him of late and has he dumped on the weight?

I am still fairly sceptical of the 17 kgs but this photo certainly shows a much thicker Mark Blicavs.

This is Blicavs if I am not mistaken.

I dont care what he weighs...he looks like a big unit!

Big FAST LONG RUNNING unit..... may not be able to kick for shit but he's got 1/2 the game covered for B Rookie... and i'll take that right now...

GO Catters

(and for what its worth, I actually thought his skills were reasonable in NAB cup thus far...)

Hi little sister can play B'ball. She is big, quick, aggressive and attacking. I think she may be a future opal if she keeps working hard.

And I have a feeling this guy might make it at the cats as well.

Im astounded at his shape , I thought we had given a stick a bit of a go , but he looks ready to play. Now if he can use his athletic ability he could be an amazing x factor. NicNat and Daw have a certain athletic ability but Blitz's potential to be a tall mid will only be limited by his football skills.

So I hear West went in for an arthroscope.

Does this mean Blicavs will be forced to take some ruck duty?

The way we are going they might have to send Motlop out in platform soles to ruck.

I can remember his old man Andy running around the court playing at Albert Park.
Also a big , aggressive unit who hit the boards hard , not sure if he made the Boomers squad but wouldn't have been far off.
Genes are pretty good as I hear the mother was pretty handy at sport as well.

Mum and Dad rep'ed for Oz.

it's happened before, although this bloke was 1 inch taller than Motlop

I recall one day at Princes Park seeing Sean Denham (or someone of that height) going up against Justin Madden at a boundary throw-in as we were getting flogged and no ruckman could be bothered getting to the contest. He was the only guy in hoops around.

possible tactics to be employed this weekend?

I can recall Bartel doing similar not that long ago, he was jumping behind the rucks at boundary throw ins, may have been Corey...was one of them and it was working to some degree.

As a kid i used to see his Mother play bball and let me tell you she could play! She was tall and athletic and could shoot the lights out.

Could we slot her in to CHF? She will only have Schoenclangers as her opponent.. :thumbsu:

The kid certainly has a pedigree, and is apparently totally focussed once he decides to commit.
If his body holds up, he could be an excellent guy to have on the list.

I rekon it was Corey from memory.

With the inclusion of the new ruck rules for around the ground, the landscape of the true ruck position has and is still changing.

He may be the new style for the next 10 years.... Not as tall as 211 but more mobile, longer running type players. Again, long way to go but he certainly is moving in the right direction....

Go Catters

It will only take one full NAB cup game to see where this bloke sits. Cameos are fun but a full game where we get to see how his decision making sits at the moment and his kicking and marking are going to hold up.

Running and effort are not in question [although running after being hit in ruck contests a couple of dozen times might be more difficult than he is used to] .

With three subs this week (I think ) I would like to see him get a start this week and if it all goes pear shaped he can be subbed off.

If he is to have an impact this year it will be remarkable.

I've been away a lot but I heard today they've cut the ball up time down around the ground.
That's the exact situation where a guy with size AND endurance can make a mark.
