Welcome to geelong finally. Chris Scott mentioned he is now involved in the club could play VFL in 3 weeks and he is 197 cm tall so could be a very exciting prospect. looking forward to see how he goes.

He is a rookie who hasn't played footy for years.
Doubt he'd play seniors !
It will be interesting though to see how he goes. Especially with the physical aspect of it considering what he has been training for.

At least he's fit !

I know a couple of rugby players that hadn't played footy either ............

although a bit more physical in their code!

Not possible, an awful lot of his endurance will have to be sacrificed to get him a football ready body, those are the breaks.

not necessarily, look at the two NRL code switchers who had to sacrifice muscle in order to maintain both endurance and explosive speed.

not necessarily, look at the two NRL code switchers who had to sacrifice muscle in order to maintain both endurance and explosive speed.

They sacrificed muscle to greatly increase endurance not maintain, the same inverse relationship will be enforced for Blicavs but the other way. Explosive speed belongs with power and is separate to both, it does not need to be lost as Blicavs grows.

Strength and Endurance require two different types of muscle of which we have a limited supply. Blicavs will start pushing weights hard and his body will adapt to the new pressures on it by replacing his slow twitch muscles with fast twitch ones, and such his endurance capacity will slowly reduce while he gets bigger and stronger (fast twitch fibres are bigger and heavier then slow).

Is he actually fast? Speed over a few minute race does not test your explosive pace.

A 197cm running machine. Love to see him given a handful of VFL games this year just running with the best opposition onballers. No better way to learn the tricks of the trade.

If he gets his body and skill level up to standard, would be an interesting to see how he goes in this role. Has a big frame to build on and certainly has the engine to go with it. Let's get Lingy back to the club to train him up over the next few years on body positioning and he might just turn out OK. That's a big bloody tagger, that's for sure.

See he he chose athletics over elite basketball, hopefully he can become half as good as pendlebury

didn't know that, interesting.

I know he's something like 197cm, but I'd like to see the club work on getting his skills as sharp as humanly possibly then let him loose on a wing, Richo-style - it will take too long to teach him the nuances of playing as a KF or KD - well, too long for me anyway ;).

ahhh thanks Tom :thumbsu:
I think people need to remember Mark has been a middle distance runner not a sprinter, so I' not so sure he brings speed, but def. endurence. He also knows what is required to be an elite sportsman. I did hear he had won a B&F in footy as a kid. Can't wait to see how this gamble works out, the club has nothing to lose.
