CS is on 360 now talking from the season launch and said the Blitz is going to be in the squad of 25 for Monday and just from listening to him one would suspect that he will be lining up to take on the Hawks.
Went to talk about his thirst for knowledge and work ethic is fantastic and reiterated that the game has never seen a player with his physical attributes {size} combined with his running ability

On CS...as a famous coach once said. Give me stats and I'll shut up... or in other words , nothing talks like performance. Blitz comes out and has a game that is standout on Monday he will be getting some legit attention. Run Forrest run... ehh sorry. Run Blitz run.
Let’s hope that if the outcome isn’t as positive as that we cut him plenty of slack. His journey so far has been nothing short of fantastic. Given more time who knows what he can achieve.

Fantastic news, I'm not surprised owing to the favorable recent comments of CS and the current injury state of our ruck stocks.
I remember when Egan went down Wells plucked a gangly mature aged winger from WA, turned out to be Harry Taylor sometimes from adversity the greatest triumphs come.
Go Blitz!:)

AM , if we went back to his drafting or something around that time , i said I seriously doubt he would ever player a game.

Up yours Turbo!!

He has come on far quicker and beyond anything Id have thought possible , and although he is getting a game because of injuries , who knows what happens now. If he does do something that gives a glimpse of what he maybe he then has already done his job for this year. Its all upside after that.

Most of us were of that opinion I'd reckon Turbo.

I think I can recall even our coach saying at the time he was a long shot to ever play AFL but it was a shot worth taking taking because of his athleticism and the talent he’d shown as a junior. A fantastic story.

Like I said in the review thread, was an outstanding effort from the young fella today.
The kid is as green as a granny smith apple, give him some time and we will have a pretty good player on our hands

Just wonder when we get a few back, he might make the perfect sub. Would allow us to play one ruck who he could replace late or could play tall or mid given an early injury.

Can picture him coming on late and giving us plenty of run without using a bench rotation.

No-ones gone with a permanent sub as yet - another first for the GFC?

I thought he showed real promise, especially for a bloke with no top level footy experience coming in to a big game with finals intensity.
Seemed to read play pretty well and make good decisions under pressure, and rucked well against seasoned pros.

Has a lot of promise & certainly didn't embarrass himself!

We talk about players hitting their straps once they play 50 AFL games. This guy has just 8 games of footy since u14s. Most other players would have already played up to 100 games of junior and representative footy by then. He is then thrown into the ruck for one of the most high pressure games of the year. It's a remarkable story and the fact that he played his role is extraordinary

What a hell of a pressure cooker to have as your first game, for anybody!

I'm biased (because I knew both of his parents back in the early 80s, before they'd ever met), but he's the goods. Every game is just going to get better and better (along with some inevitable rookie stumbles), but his bloodlines are highly superior in terms of intelligence and athletic grunt, so I'm expecting him to be a massive player by the time he's racked up another 49 games or so.

Today was a glimpse of the future, and a reinforcement of the daring and vision that are part and parcel of this amazing club.

thought he was really out of his depth early in the game but as we saw tonight from various footy shows, they spoke how well he worked himself into the game and he really began running the other two off their feet, he was very good in the 2nd half and in particular the last quarter as he just didn't stop working.

He may still be a while away from becoming a consistent player and you would assume when HMac, Vardy or Simpson return then he may struggle to out-do those types but as jazee posted, he would have played even if those guys were available due to his pre season form so you can't argue with what the coach says :thumbsu:

Yep..I'll go with Bobby on this....struggled early with the intensity but worked his way into it. A great learning experience for him and he'll get better...especially with HMac around to mentor him.

Wont play the majority of games but if we can get 8-10 games into him, he will be better in 2014.

Interesting comment by Scotty when asked about Blicavs on Footy Calcified.
Went something like, "Had all our rucks been available, Blicavs would have played".
Great faith placed in the boy by those who know.

Going to be an amazing second half asset when his time arrives. Benches are for sissies.

He reminds me a little of the raw ability that Jim Stynes showed when first starting out but perhaps with a little more skill. He didnt have a game that was to the level of some of his NAB cup efforts but if you look closely he had some clever taps in close play (not ruck work but scrapping) that enabled a runner to collect and move forward. Quality handball skills. He is clearly a keeper for sure.

Really needs to get comfortable kicking though. Only had one today and that was accident as he was slung in a tackle. I don't want another Mark Blake who will only kick as a last option. Let's get him out of that bad habit asap. :)

Struggled early, but got better as the game went on. Can't criticise his effort at all, work rate was fantastic, and considering how little footy he has played, he's improving with every game, and we have a really good long term prospect on our hands.

Short term we really need all our rucks fit again (particularly Hmac) as we need to at least be able to break even in the centre, but Blicavs looks like a good prospect for the future.
