Just listening to CS "On the couch" , seems to think like a few of us, perhaps being used as a 3rd ruck or even KeyBack down the track. Sounds good to me.

That's interesting. I threw up the possibility of Blicavs becoming a KPD in a post a week or two back. I'm not sure we would get the most out of him in a key defending role but this guys capabilities seem almost endless. Nice to have that up our sleeves anyway. With his tank he could be thrown down back if needed during the finals and still be able to take the rucking role in throw ins or stoppages. If we decide to go into finals with a similar defensive setup to Saturday night (ie without Rivers), then I think Blicavs has to play finals.[/quote]

We all see what we want to see. I agree with your point about KB.

But isn't it great we have this 198 cm embryo of a player who is so quick, skillful, versatile , and talented that we have a dilemma as to where he's best suited. Again, for me, he is THE STORY of the year.

Took the kids down to Skilled Kardinia Park in the preseason and he came over and signed his autograph with Mitch Brown. I was actually impressed with the bulk he'd put on and the difference in his muscled arms compared to Mitch Brown's was stark.

Seems to have a great attitude and appetite for the game. A great get for the Catters.

The way I see it, as long as his form continues Blicavs is a lock. McIntosh, Simpson and West are playing for 1 spot and 1 spot only - 1st ruck. Vardy is the big unknown. There may be occasions where you consider him as a 3rd ruck / back up forward, and if he really gets a string of form together, he may even challenge Pods for his spot in the forward line.

Does anyone know whom or how Blitz was felled behind the ball against the Hawks? I saw the vision of him pushing the trainers away but grabbing his head in both hands and dropping to his knees, at which point the director changed cameras..... shocking I know...

On the TV coverage Larkins then reported Blitz on the bench with issues closing his jaw...

Im not playing the we are getting hard done by card yet but I would like to know WTF happened.

And given the both Hunt and Corey issues were swept and the WC dude got the same for an elbow to the head as SJ and Kel got for bumps... I'm smelling a rat....

That is the stat which impresses me the most about Blitz. He has had at least 1 tackle per game this year, the Swans & Dogs games being the only matches he had a solitary tackle.
I didn't get to see last weeks match against the Dockers and some commented that he was poor or poorer than he has been, but he still had 5 tackles that game. Out of his last 4 matches, he has had 5 tackles in 3 of them, and 4 or more tackles in 5 of his last 6 matches; so he isn't afraid to get involved in the play and make the opposition earn their possessions. And he seems to have a good technique which is great for a tall player especially as he seems to be tackling players a lot shorter than him more often than not.

Just as a matter of interest a bloke named West (or the forgotten man) averages ten disposals, twenty two hitouts, one tackle and just under two clearances a game, don't see a heck of a lot of difference there myself.

Agree Blitz has been a great story, but a little perspective wouldn't go astray, he ain't the bloke that's going to lead us to the promised land, more like a promising young player who IMO is not even guaranteed a spot come Sepetember.

Stats aren't everything. He adds better defensive pressure and is much harder to match up on. Also uses the ball a lot better than West and is more versatile.
