There was a couple of second efforts on his knees around the stoppages that reminded me of ottens getting the ball out by hand.

Yes! I knew he reminded me of someone! Just couldn't put my finger on it. Otto was a fair bit bulkier thought.

Seriously its awe inspiring. Has gone from some newbie we were playing because we had no other choice to putting up his hand for the best 22. Just keeps getting better with each game. How does our team keep picking these players from nowhere.

I stand to be corrected on this but it's possible that Guthrie brought Blicavs to the attention of Geelong since their families have been close for a long time in Sunbury.

The story is Guthrie's father recommended Blicavs to the club.

I am sure Mr Guthrie is a lovely bloke, but if I hear that story about him getting the Blitz to the club one more time, I may go insanely bananas.

I can't remember which match it was earlier this season where post-game Harley was asked a question along the lines of "has Blitz overtaken West as the #2 ruck when H. Mac returns" - at the time I recall Harley laughing off the question and even Geelong supporters seemed to find the funny side in the question. But that suddenly seems a genuine question the MC is going to have to start considering when & if they decide to give Simpson a shot at the seniors or if H. Mac gets himself fit & playing this year.
He started tonight on the wing and continued to keep himself involved, on top of his 13 hitouts, 20 disposals & 1 goal , is the 5 tackles he made - Duncan lead the way tonight for us in that area with 7 tackles, but next best were Selwood, Kelly & Blitz with 5 apiece.
What we see from him each week defies logic, no one who has played as little footy as him over the past 10 years should be doing the stuff he does, as he does it - he keeps his head when he has the ball, doesn't panic, seems to have the Geelong ability which seems to make time slow down & step around players to find the best option. The players trust him, whether it be kicking to him anywhere around the ground or using him as link-up in passages of play and it is great to see.
If we have our whole squad fit, i don't know if he would currently be best 22, but what I do know is that he is making it harder & harder each week for the MC to drop him because he ain't doing too much wrong.

Chris Scott said he is clearly in the best 22.

To think this guy only got a chance in the seniors because everyone ahead of him was unavailable, King Ralph style. I reckon nobody would think he'd get more than a game or two, and that only because of sheer desperation on our part. Talk about seizing your opportunity and refusing to let go! He's undroppable now, I reckon. Definitely in our best 22.

Embarrassment of riches- he has surpassed West, offers all that West does with more upside, and I don't mind West.
And anyone who says Blic looks tired is just hoping.
H Mac will have to force his way back in.
Or Blic is our new tall winger.
Whatever mechanism, he has become a keeper in our best 22.

surely the debate about whether the club promotes him or keeps him on the rookie list at seasons end is now over - at his rate of improvement each week the club will have no option but to promote him if they want him in the blue & white hoops next year.

Pods & Hawkins have to play. As do Vardy and Blicavs. One of Simpson or H Mac to come in as a genuine tap ruckman unless Ballroom takes his ruck work to another level. That is one more tall than we generally like but the mobility of Blicavs and Vardy may just be revolutionary. West will strugglentonhold his spot I'm afraid. He will be unlucky.

Great game by Blitz

Very funny line by Troy Selwood on K-Rock in the 2nd qtr when Blitz kicked a left foot 50 kick to neary score a goal - "That's the best wrong footed 50 metre kick I've ever seen from a steeplechaser"

It's great to see Blicavs doing so well, but for people saying that he is in the "best 22", does this refer to a best 22 with McIntosh available?

My thinking is that only four out of (Hawkins, Pods, McIntosh, Vardy, Blicavs and West) should play at any one time, and that at this stage, West and Blicavs are the two to miss out.

I do think Blicavs has overtaken West, so my "four talls" from players available now would be Hawkins, Pods, Vardy and Blicavs.

Odd that the two guys who have carried the entirety of the ruckwork throughout the first 10 rounds, in which we've gone 9-1, could be the ones to miss.
