Thats alot of what if's .. Coggs form of 03 lol? Cuzz of 01? Very unlikely, I just want to see those boys back playing the game they love. Jackson, Connors, Thompson and Hislop are yet to prove they are in the team for the long haul yet so don't get too ahead of yourself. Also Tambling has to go up another level to cement his spot.
Thats why I said "as unlikely as it is".

I didnt mention the others in the first group because, as you said, they are yet to prove themselves (even cotchin).

yeh great news for us just to bolster up our already GUN midfield. great option off the bench if he can stay fit and injured free in my opinion. used to love watching him play and hopes he plays v freo.

Take a trip down memory lane to the last time Cogs played Freo

23 kicks, 12 handballs, 9 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal.

Imagine, if he could produce something close to those numbers again. He did all that in a rabble of a side.

Backing you Cogs :thumbsu:

coggs was never a speedster or even overly quick at the best of times, i cant see how anybody can remember his speed 2 years ago to be able to judge if he has slowed or not.

probably looks slower know because the game is quicker & we have alot of very fast players running around than before.

Mark Coughlan of today = Paul Broderick of yesteryear (highly skilful & powerful acquisitions for the RFC)!

People need to reserve themsleves even more on Coughlan than Cousins. Unfortunately the reality is after 2 knee reco's and hamstring issues he would be lucky to make it back to 70 percent of the player he was. People have already reported he looks slower on the track then what he use to be but who knows these days...

It's gonna be good to see him make his return and hopefully he can make it a successful one. :)

barnzy would be appreciated if you could keep your sensible comments to yourself :thumbsu: agree with you 100% re coughlan. i have my fingers and legs crossed that he comes back to what he was before he was struck down but it will be difficult. i'm salivating at the thought of coughs back to almost what he was along with all our other mid's being available. bring it on!!

go tige's

If the coughs back try a butter menthol or a soother. :p But if you are refering to Cogs, I'm crossing everything fingers, legs, eyes, t's, you name it it's crossed that he has an injury-free season. With a full pre-season under his belt all he now needs is some game time in the NAB to prepare him for some Round 1 action! :thumbsu:

so yep, go tiges!

Coughlan ready for return to the big time

MARK Coughlan is ready to put years of frustration behind him and hopes to start turning things around in Richmond's first NAB Cup game in a few weeks.

The 2003 best-and-fairest winner has had a wretched few years, with two knee reconstructions leading to chronic hamstring issues, injuries that have kept him sidelined since round 12, 2006.

But successful treatment in Germany last season saw him return to the track with Coburg for the last few games of the year, and that has flowed through into the pre-season.

After training at a hot Punt Rd on Tuesday, he declared he was ready to re-enter the big time.

"It's pretty exciting – I've done most of the pre-season, and I'm just trying to get through the rest of January now and put my hand up for that first game against Fremantle over there," he said.

"I'm feeling pretty good in the body - this year's just been a bonus, being able to do a pre-season and the group's looking pretty good for the year, so I'm pretty excited about maybe being a part of that."

The 26-year-old admitted he was a touch nervous as he looked to play his first game at a senior level for a long time.

"I guess it's a bit of an unknown for me – the game has changed a fair bit in three years, and I haven't played since 2006.

"For me it's really exciting, just being able to get out there and see how we're going to go about it.

"There are a lot of young guys at the club – Brett Deledio – that I haven't played a lot of games with, so I'm just excited about maybe getting out with them."

Coughlan said he was confident that his time out of the game hadn't diminished his ability to play.

"I want to play but it's a bit of an unknown for me – I've certainly got the confidence that I can still mix it at AFL level, but it's just about, when I get the opportunity, making the most of it.

"I've got the fitness, now it's just about taking it into games.

"There are four or five games, including intra-clubs that you can play in, and you need that two or three games, at least, running into a season."

Now thats a sight for sore eyes. Given the quality of the rest of our midfield now, Cogs @ 70% would be a weapon as a burst player.

cogs will be a massive upside this year. aslong as all goes to plan and no injuries. every one just wants him to get back and playing good footy. cmon cogs

Check out Lids on this FSNews Interview.

this is lids best interview to date.he is growing up,you can see it.
very positive for him and the rfc, maturity brings on leadership.

i wish all the best for cogs, he deserves some luck
i hope i can see him again dive on the pill with no fear and no regard
for who is comming the other way.

his agression was feared by the opposition, rfc and i have missed him badly
all the luck in the world to you cogs

All you Cogs doubters should be shamed of yourselves!

He's gunna be back in brilliant form! Just wait ;)

Tuck, Coughlan, Cousins, Cotchin, Thomson, Dieledio, Foley... some serious tallent there... Edwards and Tambling as a genuine Wingman... good midfield rotations

Add Brown to that list. I love that midfield, a lot of class, dynamic power with grunt and toughness.

Give Richo the 50 to himself and just bomb it in :thumbsu:

Nah, you mean give Richo the 50 to himself so that he can run around like a rampant bull being hit on the chest by a multitude of pinpoint passes!!!:D

Shame he's so excited he wants to run around on the wing with the rest of the young guns:p
