Lets have a look at a snippet of the draw.

Port play in Richmond in Darwin, the following week Richmond have the bye, and Port play Hawthorn. Advantage Richmond and Hawthorn. Richmond play Sydney after their bye.

Port play Melbourne in Darwin for the second time, the following week we have the bye. Melbourne play Hawthron. Advantage Hawthorn and Port. However, Port play a Non-Victorian club (Adelaide) after their bye, so the advantage is not held against a Victorian club.

The trend continues throughout the season, have a look for yourself, there are exceptions of course, but I think about 70% of the time the Vic club is favoured post-bye.

Look at the run it to the finals too - North, Geelong, Carlton, Essendon.

Yes port did play Richmond in Darwin

Following week Richmond played Carlton and Port had the bye in Round 11..

I decided not to bother beyond that...
