As a second west australian club i wish you guys all the best. I honestly do. But the decisions your club makes and the fact that a majority of dockers supporters seem to be OK with them baffles me.

Your club is not in a premiership window. It just isn't. You have s erious lack of depth on your list courtesy of Chris Connelly's rampant insecurity as a coach that led him to trade most of your draft picks and second tier players away during the last 8 years and the clowns in your admin that consented to let him do it. You need youth and you need to rebuild. You have an old list. Peter bell is certainly in his last year, Hasleby is hampered with chronic injury and has the wrong body shape to allow him to be one of the few players in the AFL that can play past 30 (he is still a good player but past his best footy. Look at how little interest he got from other clubs when he had his contract stand off with you), Longmur is gone (big blow, that one) and your backline has had several retirements. Yes, you made a prelim final for one year but that does mean that you are in a premiership window and have one of the best lists in the comp. You are a middle of the ladder side who can, in a given year, be lucky enough to push up into the 8 into 4-6th spot if they get a really good run with injury and win their close games. That is not a team in a premiership window.

Which brings me to my point - what good is a 29 year old back pocket player to a middle of the ladder team with a list that is already one of the oldest in the comp and needs rebuidling? You are wasting spots on your list on players like Soloman and Johnson when you could get young kids and put game time into them. You need to reign Harvey in and tell him to stop this jobs-for-the-boys nonsense for all his mates from melb. They aren't going to make a real difference to where you finish in the ladder so there is no point. You need to learn from the mistakes from the Connolly era and give Schwab the boot for being the central pin in the failed Connolly-Schwab regime and allowing this to happen.

I am not picking on the dockers. I would be even more harsh and brutal if it was my club and i would be petitioning for management to get the sack.

No, we are a inconsistent team that showed exactly what we could do against the bunch of women you call a team
P.S no offence to women (unless they flow the eagles)

thanks for the expert opinion. I am sure you would know.

The only bit you got right in all that is your place in WA - the 2nd team. :D

JLo is a big loss - but we hardly had him in '06 and he played about 2 games in '07, so I think we can manage.

The retirements from the backline were Parker and Haddrill - not quite sure what we are going to be missing there either given their number of games in '07 (and previously for Haddrill)

If you want to petition for management to be sacked, take a look at what the management have allowed over the past 5-6 years at your club.

As for jobs for the boys, tell me, how is it that Woosha's brother got a job at west coast? or Sumich? or Irving? Why is it that both Steve and Trevor Woodhouse work at the club? Why is Langdon your match day 'entertaiment'?

Given the events of the past year or two, I'd suggest you worry more about what's going in your own backyard - we at Freo will look after our own inadequacies and plot our own path to success. We don't need assistance from outsiders who have no knowledge of what they are talking about, however 'well intentioned' it may be.

I do think Nisbett should be sacked and so do a lot of eagles members and fans. We admit our mistakes, take responsibility and take action. Your club takes 10 years or longer to acknowledge when people are not doing their jobs properly. You have had the same recruiting manger since you started despite all the bad decisions and trades he has participated in. I have not heard one docker supporter say that they think that Schwab should have to answer for all the bad decisions that have hapenned on his watch i.e. croad, headland and tarrant trades, continuing to back a moron like Connolly for 8 years. And you might want to settle Farmer and Tarrant down down first before you start talking about culture probs.

You were more advanced in the rebuilding phase than us when Connolly took over, have had better draft picks every year since and should have had a premiership window faster than us. What hapenned? If you are going to "plot your own path to success" you are taking a long time about it.

We are talking about places on a club list, of which you only have 38 or so to give and therefore can't afford to waste on 30 year old delistees from other clubs who happen to be mates with the coach, not employment in the clubs admin like recruitment and ass coaching. Does woosha go trading trading draft picks and giving up spots on our list to over-the-hill hacks who have been delisted from carlton?

BTW, our recruitment dept and coaching panel are 10 times better performed than yours.

We don't really need to worry about our backyard because we won a flag a season ago and have made the finals 15 years out of the last 17 (as opposed to you - 2 out of 15) and have the second youngest list in the comp and are still a finals side so therefore will probably be in the finals for the next 5 years as we get better and more expierienced. We have more good players than we can fit into our side and have players gunning it in the WAFL every week. Your club barely has anybody outside it's best 25 that can even make a WAFL side.

yeah and handed everything on a silver plater in 17 of those 17 years. we have made a hell of a lot of mistakes, thats true, but we never got the golden deal you did, so go back to your own section, its under the "im a pompous wank.r" site

and yet with all that awesomeness:rolleyes: we still beat you in the latest derby, the biggest game in WA history, and the best derby.

Also it amazes me how people still forget McPharlin was part of the croad deal . Croad and McPharlin for #1 (Hodge), #20 (Elstone), #36(Mitchell). If the hawks didn't pick Mitchell it wouldn't look bad (by the way pick 34 for was Simon O'Keefe, and 35 was Jarrad Wright)

You'd have to be a complete idiot not to try and get Headland after the year he had prior to being traded,

Are your mob still whingeing about concessions? Are you saying that the flag we won andn the success we have had this decade has been somehow made possible or influenced by concessions we got when we came into the comp 20 years ago? I think you are drawing a long bow there, mate. Port were a dominant side for 5 years and won a flag in that time and could have won more and they got the same concessions you did when you came in. If they were able to achieve significant success with those concessions, why weren't you? Maybe because they actually used their concessions wisely to get decent players and you wasted yours.

Here is an equation freo fans have failed to understand for 15 years -

A premiership isn't 2 derbies in a row.
Write it on the blackboard 100 times and try to understnd it.

There were a lot of people saying at the time that Headland looked better than he was because of the players around him and he could afford to run forward of the play at brisbane and back Voss, Black, Lappin and Power to win the ball and link to him and he would not be able to play that way at other clubs. He would have to win his own ball. There is no problem expressing interest in a player and seeing what can be done but when the price gets too high you pull out and say no. Freo have seem incapable of doing this. Once they get a player in the crosshairs they pay whatever it takes to get them. Other clubs know this and so always hold out for a better deal when trading with you, like essendon did with Bradley this year. they were so sure you would cough up a 2nd round pick they were prepared to get nothing for him to try and bluff you.

jackfrost.... you can get f.cked, you west coast c.ckhead. you took masten instead of palmer, which just proves that its not just you that is a dumbf.ck, but your recruiting staff are losing it too. get off the coke w***er

We don't need outside running midfielders, you do

regardless, Masten was rated higher by most - just because you think otherwise, doesn't mean you're right or have a superior opinion to a professional recruiting outfit known for tremendous midfield drafting

Your club takes 10 years or longer to acknowledge when people are not doing their jobs properly. You have had the same recruiting manger since you started despite all the bad decisions and trades he has participated in.

I'm not sure how many times this needs to be said but I'll say it again

Phil Smart does not negotiate trades. He is our recruiting manager not list manager. He picks the best kids in the draft with the picks he has and thats it

I have not heard one docker supporter say that they think that Schwab should have to answer for all the bad decisions that have hapenned on his watch i.e. croad, headland and tarrant trades, continuing to back a moron like Connolly for 8 years.

where the **** have you been?? :D

Who does negotiate the trades then? The Woodhouse brothers are the recruiting dept at our club ad they negotiate our trades. Smart would definately have input into trades. And he hasn't been a successfu; recruiter of young kids either.

I admit that i don't read this forum often so maybe you have had a million threads bagging Schwab but amongst dockers supporters i know and the ones you hear on talkbac radio for footy i have never heard any of them agree with any criticism of Schwab.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Be gone with ye, peasant. We don't care what you think when you march in here with your holier than thou attitude and try and tell us what's wrong with our club.

Seriously guys why worry about debating with someone who would barely know his Varse Felix from a football.

As a second west australian club i wish you guys all the best. I honestly do. .

Now thats just not true is it?

Why would you just start with a lie?

Actually for someone who has been on here for what a month I swear nearly every post I opened was just comedy gold ....I am not sure if anyone ahs been as wrong as you in such a short period of time (Gentlemen Jeff may have a new challenger).

I honestly don't think you have got one thing right in your entire 5 weeks on bigfooty....therefore you thinking we are not in a premiership window is actually the best possible news for us....

Lets go to the video tape ...

Take a leaf out of Freo's book (although obviously don't go as far as them) and trade some depth for another gun player at the top end of our list.

First up ....thank you but you have not traded well too Judd and Cousins for Masten, Kennedy and Notte (I know this isn't exacrtly true but you misrepresent our trade history so i think I will too and act dumb about it).

My prediction - eagles will hold firm, make clear what needs to be made clear to carlton and Judd and carlton will eventually fold and cough up pick 1.

So close ...

I don't even care if we don't get pick 1.
carlton can keep it if they really want it.

But the point is it has to be pick 3 AND something else decent. Either another top 5 draft pick or a player we want from another club. If they don't want to trade pick 1 they will have to find something else of value to us to include in the trade. We don't want Kennedy.....And pick 20 is just almost completely worthless. It has to be pick 3 and something else valuable..

Man even when you change your mind from being wrong, you somehow ended up being wrong again.

From what i know eagles haven't even bothered talking to JK at this stage. I don't think they rate Kennedy and don't want him....He wouldn't get a game at our club at the moment and so he probably doesn't want to come either. .

From what I know ...well at least you have got one thing right - your as smart as john Ironmonger is pretty mate.

Why would you give up pick 1 for Judd if you do not have to?

If you can get a better deal ...take it.

As simple as that.

Finally you got one right ....hang on ...whoops sorry I have misquoted someone who actually knows something.

Won't it be great if Judd does a knee and 20% of their salary cap goes out the window for a couple of years. That will wipe the smirk off Swann's face.

Nasty little blighter aren't you?

What makes you all so sure Sampi will even be an option for you in the PSD? As far as i'm aware he has stated that he wants to play for the eagles and has started PS training already with us.

You the man! keep on predicting you will get something right one day. Just keep trying!

Sampi will either play for eagles or nobody.

Wow you are Mr Accurate ...in fact you stating we are not in a premiership window is great news as it probably by definition means we are in one!

I think eagle should take Jihnstone with a late 2nd round pick since we are still in premiership mode. Sometimes you have to make short term decisions in these situations. And it is a weak draft.

...and so we gave up a 4th round pick (which we had offered for Kepler anyway) with exactly that principle in mind. You thought the draft was weak after 20 - so what did we give up in reality? (as you are not too good at questions the answer is very little).

Now run along little troll and worry about the fact that your club has lost its last 2 captains ......where ours has re-signed. Your outs are significant (2 of your top 5 players) - our retirements are outside our best 22.

You finished 3rd and should be hammering away at a number of flags yet your premiership window has been slammed in your face by the mismangement and gutless decisions on your list. Judd at 24 leaving makes me feel sick and I don't really care about the Eages (see I don't feign love).

Did Freo underachieve last year certainly did? ...however where we were weakest (midfield) ...we have added players and inshallah Peake, Schammer and (old man) Hase will string together a few games and pump it long to the 3rd best forward line in the business.

Whilst WC have drafted well ...losing Judd and Cousins is a massive, massive loss - cry injuries if you like but they put together 26 games between them ...drew the best tagger from the opposition. Kerr and Pridis are going to have fun this year being tagged like never before, your backline will enjoy the clearance machine Judd not giving first use as often and as Freo know ...Judd loves to kick a goal.

The best thing about taking MJ is Kerr looked like he was going to cry against Josh Carr ....now he is going to cop double the treatment as benny aint there either.

now troll off to your bridge or i may press search again (for those who think I am being selective - search some of Bozo's posts ....he is so far from being right I think I will call him Che)

Gold, Moo! Pure Gold!

I was one to be critical of recruiting Soloman. In fact last summer I went and watched the boys train a few times and thought he was fat, slow and would never get on the paddock. Give Johnson the benefit of the doubt.

PS Don't bite to the pesky eagles posters.

Whilst I agree that he was worth the gamble as you essentially had nothing to lose, the following arguments are pretty damn silly...

He can basically be looked at as replacing Cookie and he's got far better offensive skills and younger.

If we are going to match it with Geelong/Sydney/Port/WCE in the midfield we are gonna need players that dont take a backward step.

Possible replacement for Cook.

Cook only played 9 games last season and guys like Carr, Headland, Soloman, Bell, McManus etc don't take a backwards step. Johnson is very similar to what you have already got and doesn't rectify your deficiencies (although Palmer is a nice fit and should play a bit of footy in 2008)

Settle there mate... The Mark Johnson selection will be compared to that of Dean Solomon last year. Everyone was saying how bad the selection was bla bla bla... now look at his past season.

Whilst that's true, it's also pretty irrelevant. He may have had a very good year but that doesn't necessarily mean he brings you closer to a premiership

This is the reason why we hate West Coast. The condescending supporters who like to think they are qualified to lecture us on the basis that their team has been more successful so therefore they are a fountain of knowledge on what's wrong with Fremantle. I hate these kind greater than the one eyed morons like fat daniel.

You questioned our playing list, and so I told you about how our team beat yours whilst you were at your peak. This demonstrated that the players can get the job done, the problem is they're inconsistent

Quality post Moo:thumbsu:

I feel I am qualified to analyse Freo on the basis that I watch all their games and support them when they aren't playing us.

Do you actually have a valid opinion that proves my points wrong or would you prefer to just act defensive and whine?

I actually stated at the start of my post that it was probably the correct decision regardless.

Armfield was already gone, Rich was not even eligible - it's a bit harsh on the recruiting staff to make suggestions that are completely invalid - you may as well say we should have taken Kreuzer instead of Palmer.

Im not sayimg Armfield directly im saying a kid thats been in the WAFL a couple of years i dont have time to go through each WAFL list but just take a pick anyone would have been better for the club... I dont think the recruiting stafff would have even had a say on MJ go and ask them who else they would have picked if they could have picked someone from the WAFL .... The only reason MJ got picked up is because of his Essendon connection...

The comparison is not a Untried v Untried ( Alah Kruezer v Palmer) its a Tried and past it now to a give a wafl kid or other younger player a go to build a reputation ... Matty Priddis ?? THATS MY POINT

I didn't say that winning derbies equated to winning premierships.

Thing is Bender - we never say it.... it's them who bang on about winning derbies meaning winning premierships.

I just don't get it... considering they have a few of the "real thing" (*), you'd think they'd understand this very simple concept, wouldn't you?

Here's one for all the weagle trolls here:

Derbies are not Grand Finals.

Get that into your heads - and then kindly bugger off. :)

(underdog I don't consider you a troll... well most of the time anyway... ;)

You might be more qualified than anyone on here but it doesn't matter. We don't want to hear lectures on our own board. You might have the best of intentions and think you are doing us a service but all you are really doing is giving us a sermon. How do you think we would react if Woosha (more qualified than any of us) decided to give Fremantle some friendly advice about what we are doing wrong?

I'm not lecturing or stating my opinion as fact. It's simply that, an opinion. Of which, you have failed to address

I also find there are Freo supporters I am more then happy to hear opinions from regarding my team. Moo is perhaps the most prominent. There are also some I wouldn't even acknowledge.

Personally, I prefer to address the post rather then the poster.

I have only recently displayed my preference and held off doing it for so long for this very reason. Not because im ashamed of my team, I didn't hide the fact I supported them. I left it blank because people are too quick to judge and dismiss a person's posts based upon the team they support regardless of the validity of their comments.

I've never been here to troll...nothing changes

Moo, that is an awesome post, and very funny to read. Nailed him. Like a lot of the WC posters on here they come across as the "Voice of Reason", with advice that breaks down to; "if only you were like us, then you wouldn't be like you." Top stuff that.
