"Im sorry but the dockers never seem to amaze me with their selections , why the FXXXK do we always do it , Cmon a 29 year old past his best footy and I think suspended for the first few games for kicking someone in VFL last game last year !!!! It amazes me I guess he may be a good pickup for Peel Thunder or Perth as it would amaze me if he can get a game ... YOUTH should have been the focus .. NOT HAPPY JAN .. He should go by a lotto ticket as he is the luckiest man in AUst ..."

Just had to go and refresh wot i said at the time we drafted Johnson and about playing kids...

Am I the only one seeing improvement in Kepler? Even just the way he runs seems to be less unco these days.

How many years did we give him? 1 only I pray. Hopefully he got no pay foe the carryover suspension. Harvey should have resisted the temptation here only for the fact that if it goes **** up then he is obviously accused of favoritism. Looking that way at the moment!

1 year deal if I remember correctly.

Look I would have rather a speculative kid pick too but the club obviously thought we were close and he may add something.

As I said previously ....Freo fell free to screw around as much as you want with 5th round picks - just leave the first 3 rounds alone.

I like Mark Johnson as a pick in the 50's. I think we'll get two years out of him at least as a serviceable backup, and perhaps with a bit of luck a decent contributor. This malarkey about what a waste is awfully similar to the Solomon discussion from last year.

Johnson was a pick in the 50's. Go and have a look at how many draft picks from the 50's ever go onto to play an AFL game let alone be reasonably serviceable. Ben Colreavy anyone? How long did we have Ben Cunningham on the list? How many games has Andrew Browne actually played?

Developing a footy list is a high risk project especially when picking 17 year olds. A lot of you guys talk like you can go and pluck solid contributors off the street. Brock O'brien is an example. He's still useless and probably needs another year to even be half as effective as Mark Johnson. He wasn't just bad in the Melbourne game, he was atrocious.

Agree on Mark J. I always said that as along as he doesn't cost us a lot, and he didn't, I'm fine. I regarded him when he was at Essendon and while his best may be behind him, he can still be a handy player for us. Solomon is a great example. I don't think that Brockie is useless though. He did have a bad game, in fact had two [last weekend for Peel was pretty bad] but he's shown enough last season and even at the start of this season that he'll be a good player. He'll be as tough as Cookie or Solomon just with [hopefully] better skills.

So am I, I listened to his last WAFL game and this is report is spot on

Johnson was the pick of the AFL returnees with 25 possessions and two goals from half-back, but his report for making front on and head-high contact on Tigers forward David Crawford is of concern.

Armstrong played mostly across half forward and was terrific with 31 possessions, while Mayne looked lively but struggled for clean possessions in his first game back from injury.

Perth sealed the win with goals to Thornton, Mayne and two to Zucconi to start the final quarter, but a clever snap from Rudeforth and Richardson's fourth pulled Claremont back within two goals.

for the Demons to record a win that they will savour against a side that has dominated them for most of this decade.

"Johnson's running goal then sealed the deal"

He was everywhere when the game was on the line and his physicality was a big reason for the win.

Pity about the report.

I can't help comparing that to Macca's 5 behinds and 1 OOF in His one game for EF that they lost by a point.
