One of the classiest footballers I've ever seen - pure silk.

Had an innate sense of the game, one of those precious few players that seemed to 'feel' what was happening at any given moment.

A prodigiously talented player - absolutely blessed to have had him play in the red and black.

I remember going to the preseason grand final in 1994 with a mate and those around us were all discussing their favourite young player. Most went with Wanganeen or Hird (both of which of course I also loved) but told them Mercuri.

Yes he is doing very well. He has a couple of sons now and a daughter. Lives a quiet life. His dad Tony & I caught up at easter. We only talk about Essendon. He & I both think that the club needs a massive game against the Pies. Truth be known that marrying Tony's niece was a deal breaker in our eventual union, especially as she is a Pies supporter. Did any one know that Mark's Nona is 98 years old ?!! Impressive stock.

Mark harvey always knew when he was on song the Bombers would win. He was not the icing on the cake as it were in that squad from the 90s nor was he the cherry on the top. He was the god damned filling that made the cake so ****ing amazing to begin with and I'm so glad I went and watched him run rings around players for a decade. He was pure and utter class and anyone who says otherwise is simply a plonker.
