Hi Mark, what can you tell us about Rowan Andrews and is he a chance of getting a promotion to the senior list? Mick

Rowan is a young ruckman who originates from Tasmania and is playing reserves with Glenelg. He has been named as their best player in the past two matches and he is making very good progress at this stage. I would imagine that he would be playing in the seniors for the Bays very shortly. He is a player who is very easy to coach, a terrific mark, his ruckwork at boundary throw-ins and ball ups is very good and he is a very smart player. He has a great desire to make it to the top level and this is reflected in his training. We would like to think that sooner rather later he will make his way onto the senior list.

==============================================

He paints a bit of a rosy picture but if Rowan's attitude is anything to go by then he is an impressive lad.

Got to say getting rid of our back-up ruckman looks to have paid dividends as it has forced AFC's hand at looking at getting some new decent bigman talent on our list. From a medium to long term point of view, I'm happier with the young talent coming through now, compared to this time last year. On the surface it would appear we have made better use of our rookie list this year too.

Sounds like he is giving him a fair wrap here. Easy to coach, terrific mark, ruckwork very good, very smart player.

I know the kid has a competative nature and is a hard worker. Hopefully he is one of those blokes who are late developers. A younger version of Hudson maybe ??????

Hudson > Marsh
Andrews > Marsh

You might be right, so many of the ruckman in the league today were late developers. in fact damn close to all of them!!

even Matthew Clarke was released by Hawthorn before ever playing a game, as was primus with Geelong. As reg Hickeys grandson, Geelong must really have thought him rubbish.

Thanks for the chuckle Kane!! :D Actually the name Kane McGoodwin appears very frequently in the Ben Marsh threads. In very loose Shakespearean terms, I think that same Kane McGoodwin was there to bury Marsh, not to praise him. :p

Of the threads that you listed, my favourite two, in order, are

Believe me I have had great fun & laughter researching the Marshmellow threads. Nearly polished of a whole bottle of red in the process! Couldn't find the Kane v Stiffy classic which started all of this debate off though. Good to see Stiffy & your goodself came around in the end. ;) BTW, I have gained even more respect for DT & Marvin re-reading some of these threads.

They were saying the same thing about Parker last year, now he's not even a regular for South.
Andrews has been named as an emergency for the Bays again, so he is close to selection. He's still only young, so for a ruckman he has time on his side.
