The bigger issue is there are no true journalists these days.
The AFL journos are fed stories by City Hall and must comply, otherwise they're ostracised. No one dare be critical of the machine.
Same goes for racing journos. Dr Turf (John Rothfield) is the only one with the balls to be critical of the racing industry because he DGAF about the few bob he might make from his media appearances. The others just toe the party line. Just listen to the flogs on 927 and you'll vomit.
Rinse and repeat for all the other sporting codes.
Sadly, most people are too dumb to work the above out.
