Couldn't the eagles just delist someone else who they see as less value than polo and cass? This would eleviate the list problem eberyone is talking about

They could but, with no disrespect to Cass intended, I dont think he would be one to push any out of a spot on the list.

Also, apparenly everyone has a contract now.

Plus our list is mainly young kids. It's hard to delist guys who are showing promise so that we can draft kids and hope they show promise.

can someone please tell me what they see in mark seaby?

I mean i dont not rate him, but a 2nd rounder IMO is too much for him. I dont watch alot of WCE games and if i do i tend not to focus on him, so why is he highly rated again?

Yeah, no talk on him yesterday, but apparently will be within the coming days.

In the HUN today:
Tigers Want Seaby
Richmond will talk to West Coast over the coming days to try to hammer out a deal for premiership ruckman Mark Seaby.

While the Tigers were stunned as everyone yesterday when North Melbourne put young ruckman Hamish McIntosh on the trade table, they remain keen on Seaby.

The Tigers' second round draft pick, No.26, will be key to any deal, although the Eagles may seek more for the 24-year-old, who has played 97 games.
Personally I think pick 26 is too much, yet it seems the Eagles will want more, would be disgusted if we gave any more than pick 26.

Said it before and will say it again, I would give up pick 26 but only if WC sends pick 36 to us along with Seaby, that way we still keep 3 picks in the first 3 rounds and get a ruckman that can help out Simmonds immediately rather than 2-3 years time.

True, but I would also rather someone who can TAKE OVER Simmo rather than just help him out for a few years, I don't want another Knobel, we could potentially draft someone right now and by the time Simmo is ready to call it quits he could be coming through and ready to take the No.1 spot, we currently also have Graham(Just re-signed), Putt and Patto(Probably only ever a 2nd ruck), as our backups and potential ruckman, do we really want or need 5 ruckman on our Senior list?

Seaby can take over from Simmonds if needed, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to see Seaby start as first ruck and then play a kick behind play after the centre bounce with Simmonds playing up forward and taking the ruck forward of centre.

Someone posted Seabys games for the Eagles when Cox was missing and the numbers looked pretty good. At 24 and with 97 games to his name he is entering the age where he should be hitting his peak.

To put it another way, I would love to get McIntosh but he will cost a first rounder minimum, Warnock is younger but hasn't really proven himself at this level and is wanting a heap more money despite having a lot less experience. Then there is this whisper that we asked about Jamar, may as well board up the place if we get him. That leaves Seaby as the only other real choice.

If we hold our cards close to our chest we could do very well out of the trade week.
We give up pick 26 & Polo for Seaby. We get pick 36 from W/C.
We give up pick 42 & Shultz or Hughes for pick 22 & Thomson from Port

We started with picks-8,26,42
End up with picks-8,22,36:thumbsu:

Would cream if some1 could make that happen... Unlikely me thinks... but very happy if it did....
bye bye polo and shultz and hello seaby, thompson and upgraded picks...:)

no picks for seaby just a streight swap for polo. you blokes selling away our future.

pick 26 is a great deal imo for all parties

Richmond get a ruckman that has played in 2 grand finals and one premiership has proven he can play great footy when cox is out.

Wce get pick 26 which could secrue them a small forward in Walters or even a mid in the likes of Deboer

Seaby also gets a chance to preform as a number one ruckman for 22 rounds a year

Seaby for 26 is about right I reckon....

Then we try and trade Polo or even Raines for a top 20 pick... I'ts looking more likley that we will only use 3 picks in the ND anyway.

The reality is that is probably the best outcome we could hope for in trade week and it still only gives a minor improvement to our list. Polo and Schulz out for Thomson and Seaby in, with a minor upgrade in picks.

  • Polo out Thomson in - probably no net gain or loss to the list
  • Schulz out Seaby in - lose a swingman who adds a bit of hardness and flexibility to the backline and can swing forward, gain a 2nd ruckman who can allow Simmo to spend a bit more time forward. Probably a gain overall, given our needs in the ruck.
  • upgrade 2nd and 3rd round picks - better chance of getting a slider with pick 22 than 26, but in reality will probably get the same players with 22 and 36 as with 26 and 42, depedning on how clubs rank players at that stage.
Just goes to show that most of the time, the whole trade period is only going to bring about minor improvements at best. There are exceptions to this rule, but not many.

All this crap about being a premiership ruckman. With Judd, Cousins, Kerr etc as a midfield, I could have been a premiership ruckman at 175cm, if I was in that team. Take those guys out and he probably would have been a wooden spooner ruckman too. Would he be worth pick 26 then?

Mark Seaby:
West coast will only be in search for pick upgrades especially of pick #36 or later because of list space or will target an early 2nd rounder.
This deal could be useful for both clubs, Richmond gain picks #18 and #20 which is really not to much different to a pick 12 in this draft due to the eveness from about picks 8 through to 24 ish while also securing another early 3rd round pick as well as an established, PROVEN ruckmen. While West Coast are able to secure their man, Chris Yarran at 8.
Richmond out: Pick #8, #26
Richmond In: Mark Seaby, #18,#20,#36

Adam Thomson:
Port Adelaide will be on the look out for tall forwards or backs in a trade involving Thomson.
This trade will be beneficial for both parties, Port get their tall KPP while gaining a early 3rd round pick while Richmond add to their midfield depth with a clearance machine and add another early 2nd round pick.
Richmond out: Hughes/Shultz, pick #36 (from W.C
Richmond In: Thomson, pick #22

So we head into the draft with picks #18, #20, #22 and #42
So for example we could end up with
#18 :Blease, Swift, Yarran, Suban, Hanneburry, Hill
#20 Shoenmakers, Trengove Lisle, Johnstone, Cahill
#22 Roughhead or whoever is still available from above
And then either pick best available at #42 or pass.

Thoughtss?????

Why get rid of hughes???... i think the games he played this year were not bad kicking 6 against port over there is not a bad for a first year player.. i know he played a few in 07 but yeah ...give him time to get better.. he will come through..
trust me :thumbsu:

West Coast fans seem to be the only ones who think Seaby for 26 is a fair deal, everyone else realises he isn't worth anything inside the top 30, at least.
