Bomber as senior assistant? Where do we sign up???

Bomber is not going anywhere...

Anyone thinking for one second that Bomber will leave Essendon has rocks in their head.

I don't see him staying if Hird is re-appointed. Sounds like Bomber got overruled with his objections a number of times.

Are some ppl that deluded that they hold the essendon drug saga against a coach who
: - has two premierships
-Built one of the greatest teams of all time
-A ruthless coach who demands a lot from players
-has insane ability to coach on matchday and make moves that are game winning (anyone who watched yesterday's ess vs wc game will know what I am talking about . When he moved winderlich into the fwd line essendon got back into the game)
-does not gift games
-every player will be scared to dish up a shit performance because he will rip into you.

Sorry, but it's a resounding no.

Someone who was part of the coaching panel (and a senior, experienced one at that too) and footballing department that is inextricably linked to a systematic team doping program to gain unfair advantage over the rest of the competition is not what we want or need at our club.

Whatever it takes .......... no thanks.

Well to complete the coaches panel you must have Frawley in there.

Of course. However, this delicious selection of coaching is only second best. I really do think Eddie should hire Jock McHale. Proven coach who can pick win a premiership every now and again ;)

Choko Williams is my first choice for senior assistant.
What Dean Laidley up to nowadays?
Wasn't he supposed to be a very smart match day tactician?

Midfield coach at Carlton.

Bomber would be great but not likely.
Back to reality and assuming Bucks is kept (Eddie won't have it any other way) we need to look at revamping the coaching panel.
I'd like to see Tapping elevated-he has to be better than Lappin.
And Harvey has been unimpressive. Monty Burns would be ideal as the 2nd lieutenant.

Bringing back Scotty Watters isn't a bad idea. Am a big fan of the "sacked ex head coach" coming in as an assistant.

I'd like to explore the idea of bringing in Joel Corey - heard that he's got the makings of a very very good coach.

(is this on another thread?)

Every club had a supplements program & were sailing close to the wind. Bombers were caught, the others quickly pulled their heads in. I suspect there was much shredding by certain clubs last year.

I have no problem bring Thompson into the club as a senior assistant.

I totally agree, Watters was great with out backline. Further if people are looking to sacking the head coach, Lappin as been there longer. Was never impressed with him as a player. Tapping seems to have done an outstanding job given that a number of young players he had have stepped up to cover injuries to the senior team, needs to be upgraded or some other team may head hunt him.
The other thing after Eade (not that I am a big supporter of him) replaced Walsh - no wise head left in the box, Harvey is not the answer.

Something we can agree on. Tapping has been great.

To clarify the OP, I am not calling for Buckley's head, nor am I over-reacting, (I hope) to last night's game, it was a disaster with majority of it being out of his control.
My view is based on previous selection decisions e.g, leaving Keefe out against Essendon which despite him not being in good form at the time was a massive mistake.
Dropping Jessie against Gold Coast, we all knew we needed mobility, why couldn't they see that?
Hoping that WCE play all their talls as we think we have a better chance - wtf??
Clearly the strategists/coaching panel are too similar or afraid to buck, (no pun intended) the system and speak up.
Mark Thomspon, (MT) strikes me as a the type of strong character we need.
For the alarmists about his background, for all we know MT reported it internally or even told the doctor and they as a club silenced him.
Personally I don't care what he did over there, he's moved on & learnt from it.
Our coaching panel needs a shake up & Bucks needs the senior guidance he thought he was getting we he signed up for the gig and it needs to be from someone other than Rocket.
Just saying.

Totally agree with Burns. I think he will be a great head coach one day. Also agree with Watters coming back. I would also like Eddie to throw money at Ling. Would gives us some great insight on how Geelong went about it with good positive attacking footy. The last area that is essential is someone for Witts/Grundy. A quality ruck coach that can make them smarter and accountable.

Buckley and eade out. Thompson head coach and choco as assistant. All the other assistants whoever collingwood sees fit. Sack deveron and get a real fitness coach. Promise with these changes we will be a completely different team next year.

If you bring Bomber in, he wouldn't play second fiddle to Bucks. If and I say IF bomber could be prised free from Essendon it would only be for a head coach position. That being said is Bomber the best fit for a rebuild? He's good with a great list but does he have the patience to start from scratch again? As for his Winderlich forward "move of the century" yesterday....Winderlich has been used that way for years as was Monfries and as was Fasolo last night. The difference was the work of the midfield to get Winderlich the ball. Fas almost got cold whilst he was up forward!

Yeah but what about also over hauling the players?

Lots of even depth. Not much top end talent.

Others can be traded - Blair could be traded for Jeff Garlett.

Can't imagine anything significant happening.

I've got so much sympathy for Neeld, where is he currently now?

I believe he's working in the TAC Cup with the Eastern Ranges.

Would love him back in the fold. Did a terrific job with our midfield helping our whole midfield group in those grand final years achieve career best results.

At Melbourne he just seemed to clash too much with players. It wasn't an issue at Collingwood given the results he achieved so I'd welcome him back with open arms.

Couldn't see a thread anywhere. Not much to say really. He brings proven, quality experience to the table. Would be a steal normally but way to tainted IMO. I would be disappointed if we threw him a lifeline.
