It's much easier to get into the Australian team than it is to be left out!

Try telling Jamie Siddons, Jamie Cox, DeVenito that. They well ask you where there chances to get a bagging green where. The problem in not playing for NSW.

Not it defines England's lack of depth. At the moment England would be more than glad to have players of the calibire of Leahman & McGill only play first class cricket. England have had a serious problem finding any real class batsmen who can score regularly at test level. Ok many can do it at county level but just can't take the step up.

England have just won a test series convincingly - with the batsmen performing admirably ....and you decide to slag England's batsmen off ... on a thread about 'Waugh or Lehman'?

So your point is ....... England don't have the same strength in depth as the Australian batting lineup the No.1 batting side in the world?

Yup - I agree with you there. Name another side who does? South Africa? West Indies? Sri Lanka don't - they got bowled out by Caddick et al.... they must be shocking

Maybe I'm just paranoid - but I find it amazing we seem to lower ourselves to comparing England to the Australian team at every opportunity .....why the need for all the player-hatred?
Do you need to hear ' they ain't as good a us' ringing in your ears to get through the day, mate?

I agree this thread shouldn't have veered off as it did. However there is some truth in Seiney's comment about Caddick, his record is better with the bat than the ball against us!

His first crack at Aussie conditions, we'll see how he goes I guess.

Matthew Hayden & the rest of the Aussie batsmen will absolutely smash Caddick to all parts of the Australian grounds this summer in my opinion!! If I were Andrew Caddick, I'd be trying to turn the sprinklers on the pitchess the night before the games so it will juice it up for his seam bowling, otherwise he wont do enough with the ball to worry the Australian batting order. ;);)

Cheers!!

I believe that Mark Waugh should get another chance in the line up.but Mark doesn't perform under pressure put Darren leahman back into the side.

Right .... must have missed where the thread said 'What will Waugh, Lehman, etc. do to Caddick and the England boys?'

Anyone able to help?

Seems to be a popular topic anyhow

Yes. I even go to some of the matches over here when I have the time to do so. I've been to some of the one-dayers with people I work with, the only problem is the indians and Sri Lankans make so much bloody noise.

Come on Pomme you should be celebrating the good win you guys had last night over India. Never know you may even have found yourself a proper all-rounder in Irani.

Ronnie Irani, a poor man's Simon O'Donnell

You don't rate Irani?

I think there is a lot to like about him. There's a bit of 'Beefy' about him. I like him and reckon he's a good player.

From what I've seen of Irani so far he isn't a bad prospect for England. He bowls wicket to wicket and would be even better if England could find a keeper who's confident to stand up at the stumps to him, as this would then mean the batsman can't jump down the track and change the length, making it even harder to score off him.

Cheers!!

Brett Li,

You probably seen more of Irani than we have here in Australia, but I thought he's performed quite well in this current series against India and Sri Lanka.

Cheers!!

Well, I must admit I have only seen his performances in the Natwest series, but he has played far better than Collingwood who I have seen a few times. How does that bloke get a game?

Mate, both are toilet. Irani gets stumpings bowling down the leg-side. Let's not talk anymore on this very silly subject!.

I reckon they should send Irani over here and see how he goes against a good attack on wickets similar to South African conditions. I reckon he is worth testing out for the World Cup. England would have a huge advantage with two all-rounders in their One-day side. And if you include Tudor it is a very long batting line up as he is no mug....
