We so need defenders! :( Remember when the Blues had the most rock solid defence in the league! eg. Mackay, Dean, Sexton etc

Bring it back!

He has a knee disease and he will never be able to play more than 4 games in a row. It will never be the same. STAY AWAY
BTW straight from the doctors mouth

It's amazing how many doctors that treat AFL players happily contravene doctor patient confidentiality. It seems just about everyone knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone who once treated an AFL player.

I was talking to judds doctor, and he said Judds groin was gone

Like, Physically removed. it went just from the top of the pelvis to his lower femur..

Williams knee is a management, Hell we have another player on our list who has the exact same condition and has played about 27 games in a row...

Management is the key issue, and no you cant have him:mad:

we won't be looking to offload willo, we don't have any direct substitutes for him, and his knee means we wouldn't get top dollar in a trade anyway. both williams and the club have shown faith in each other over the past year or so.
to the person that said it had been a few years since he's shown top form, he bagged 60+ goals in 2006, and had kicked 13 by the time he went down early in round 4 last year.

he played for box hill on the weekend, and moved quite well when put onto the ball in the last term. if he pulls up without much pain this weekend, i imagine he'll be straight into our senior lineup.

if carlton is interested in one of our numerous quality forwards, i'd imagine the 2 that hawthorn would most likely listen to offers for would be dowler and boyle.

I said during the off season that we'd need a forward and that it'd hurt us this year and it's really showing. I'm a fan of Dowler and i like the way he moves. It would actually be worth putting money on Hawthorn and Carlton doing a deal at the end of the year i reckon. Circumstances could change as it's a long time till then, but it looks like it both teams would be suited to doing a deal.

it's no secret that our missing link nowdays is a second rock-solid key defender to partner croad.
we first tried to get thornton from you guys in late 06, and it turned out that gilham came off our rookie list and played key back in 07 and this season. problem is, he's more medium-large than large, and this is an issue when croad is only 190cm himself. thornton has proven his worth at the blues, but i'm a bit concerned that he's not a full-size key defender either.

geelong wanted a readymade key defender at the end of last year, and used their first round pick on a 21 year old bloke who was doing well in the WAFL. that they chose this option suggests that either he had inexplicably slipped under the radar for the previous 3 years, or they thought that trading for a key defender from another club would be excessively expensive (or both). they possibly had in mind what hawthorn went through in its failed effort to get thornton.

i'd say there's a bit of bad blood between the hawthorn and carlton recruiting staff now - it'd make it a bit more unlikely that they're going to deal with each other in upcoming trade weeks.
