Never again will we have to endure the hollow words of the failed presidents, Eddie and Gra Gra. Their bleeting and whimpering
over the Lions retention allowance has been exposed by a team
consisting of nine men in New York. The Yankees baseball team is paid US$130 Million more than the Florida Marlins, the Marlins played these guys best of seven, won the series and are now the
Champs.
The Brisbane Lions player retention allowance amounts to just over AU$450,000, to be raised by the club. Ive always said, put me in a ring with Australias 10 best paid executives (im on about 30 grand a year) and im pretty confident i could belt the crap out of em. G. McMahon should exit the game quietly and with head bowed and Eddie should just except hes out of his leauge.
A$130 Million and they still couldnt win.
Go Lions,as Frank Sinatra sang, The best is yet to come baby wont it be fine............

And this relates to the AFL, how exactly?

Who cares? I hate the Yankees with a passion, go the mighty Marlins!

Not sure that anyone in Florida really cares, the Dolphins rule the roost down there.

Ha ha put you in the ring with them.

They would hire 5 guys on $30k a year to do you over. Fool.

I was hoping to release this thread somewhere in the English-speaking world and hereby have performed my best translation.

Eddie & Co often bleat about Brisbane having more money-spending room under the salary cap, and hint at that being somewhat the reason for their recruitment Rhys Shaw.

timbo notes that some weird bizarro sports club in some weird bizarro country has beaten a big spender powerhouse.

timbo goes on to conclude that because the winning blokes in the USA spent less than the losing blokes, then it seems that no matter how much money you've got to throw around, you don't necessarily get any benefit out of it.

He compares this with the Brisbane salary cap assistance situation, claiming that, therefore, the assistance Brisbane receives could very easily have had no impact on the premiership campagins at all.

He finishes with something along the lines of him being able to physically defeat 10 people as long as he earns less than them? That last bit is near on unintelligible.

(I haven't offered opinion here, I've just offered a possible translation)
